Choose Strength

I.      Jesus was not weak, he was not sheepish, he was not some pushover, but rather He was strong, He was bold, He was a Champion

A.    If your picture of Jesus is wrong, if you “see” Him incorrectly you’ll imitate improperly

1.     People wrongly imitate Jesus because they think he was a way that he was not

2.     To imitate him properly you have to see Him correctly

3.     If the enemy can deceive you about how Jesus really was the results will be dismal

B.     Seeing Jesus strong

1.     Jesus put pressure on pressure; he didn’t cower away from it-Luke 22:41-44

2.     Jesus was strong to resist-Matthew 4:1-11, Hebrews 4:15

3.     Jesus was bold-Luke 13:31-32, Mark 4:39

4.     Jesus was fearless and courageous (The Message Bible-Isaiah 50:4-7, Isaiah 53:12)

II.     The first key to being strong is you have to choose strength and refuse weakness-Josh1:6-9

A.    In response to a command you always have to make a decision to do it

1.     Strong-Harden, firm, resolute

B.     Being strong is a choice that you have to make-Deuteronomy 30:19

1.     If you’re weak it’s because you chose it; if you’re strong it’s because you chose it

a.    If you’re tired, weak, and worn it’s entirely your fault

2.     Notice the command wasn’t, “never feel weak”

a.    You can be strong in the middle of feelings of weakness

C.    You have to refuse to be weak by resisting weakness-James 4:7

1.     What you don’t want, you must resist

2.     EX: I refuse to be weak, to be weary, to grow tired, and faint
