Choose Strength
I.
Jesus was not weak, he
was not sheepish, he was not some pushover, but rather He was strong, He was
bold, He was a Champion
A. If your picture of Jesus
is wrong, if you “see” Him incorrectly you’ll imitate improperly
1. People wrongly imitate
Jesus because they think he was a way that he was not
2. To imitate him properly
you have to see Him correctly
3. If the enemy can deceive
you about how Jesus really was the results will be dismal
B. Seeing Jesus strong
1. Jesus put pressure on pressure;
he didn’t cower away from it-Luke 22:41-44
2. Jesus was strong to
resist-Matthew 4:1-11, Hebrews 4:15
3. Jesus was bold-Luke
13:31-32, Mark 4:39
4. Jesus was fearless and
courageous (The Message Bible-Isaiah 50:4-7, Isaiah 53:12)
II.
The first key to being
strong is you have to choose strength and refuse weakness-Josh1:6-9
A. In response to a command
you always have to make a decision to do it
1. Strong-Harden, firm, resolute
B. Being strong is a choice
that you have to make-Deuteronomy 30:19
1. If you’re weak it’s
because you chose it; if you’re strong it’s because you chose it
a. If you’re tired, weak,
and worn it’s entirely your fault
2. Notice the command
wasn’t, “never feel weak”
a. You can be strong in the
middle of feelings of weakness
C. You have to refuse to be
weak by resisting weakness-James 4:7
1. What you don’t want, you
must resist
2. EX: I refuse to be weak,
to be weary, to grow tired, and faint
