What Is Fear? - Part 2

I.      Fear is the anointing deactivator and the oppression connector

A.    Satan’s kingdom runs on his ability to get you into fear where the anointing can’t work

1.      The anointing deactivator and oppression connector

2.      Fear is the root to every problem and the cause of every failure

B.     God feels about fear & unbelief the way he feels about all the rest of that wicked stuff: HE HATES IT

1.      Revelation 21:7-8-We must not treat fear as a light thing; it’s no light thing to God

C.    We’ve failed to recognize fear as the problem because we haven’t been clear about what it was (IE: You think jealousy is the problem, but it’s fear)

1.      You have to deal with fear, not just the results that fear produces

2.      Fear’s at the bottom of this somehow and someway and if you’ll allow the Holy Spirit to teach you what fear is you see fear for what it really is

II.     What is fear?

A.    People in general are ignorant about what fear is

1.      The tendency is to think that fear is only operating in your life when you feel afraid

a.      Fear can operate apart from feelings of fear, the way faith can operate apart from feelings of faith

b.      The world defines fear as the feelings of fright; the Word defines fear as anything outside of the love of God

2.      Fear will mask itself and hide itself in things like strife, anger, jealousy, disobedience

a.      If you don’t recognize fear, it’ll just hide in your life and sit there and keep the anointing from working and you won’t even recognize what the problem is

B.     PRACTICAL DEFINTION-Fear is faith in the ability of the enemy to steal, kill, & destroy you/what’s yours; Fear is more faith in the enemy to harm you than God to keep you

1.      Mark 4:40-They had faith in the enemy’s ability to kill them through that storm

a.      They were certain that storm was going to harm them

1)      Anytime you’re in fear you’re certain something bad is going to happen

a)     They just knew that sooner or later that storm was going to kill them

2)      They weren’t killed, ruined, or destroyed yet: fear is talking like it’s done

2.      Fear is the reciprocal of faith; it’s twisted faith or faith in the wrong thing; it operates by the same principles, but produces opposite results

a.      Fear comes by hearing the words of the devil (1 Samuel 17:11, Romans 10:17)

b.      Fear is the defeat that is overcome by the world (1 John 5:4, Philippians 1:28)

c.      It’s impossible to please Satan without fear (Hebrews 11:6)

d.      Things are impossible for him that fears (Mark 9:23, Matthew 14:24)

C.    BIBLICAL DEFINITION-Fear is anything that’s outside of the love of God-(1 John 4:18)

1.      Fear is only present when love stops being developed or perfected

a.      Fear is present and operating the moment you step outside of love, whether you feel afraid or not; If you’re outside of love the Bible said you’re in fear

2.      We need not judge weather or not fear is present by the feelings of fear, but we must judge weather or not fear is present by the love gauge

D.    Fear operates with this sense of self-preservation; rather than preserving others, preserving the Word and believing God is my care taker and he’ll take care of me fear has to worry and care for itself

1.      Fear always tries to take care of me rather than trusting God to take care of me

2.      Fear keeps you from sowing the seeds necessary to harvest what you truly desire

3.      Fear is faith in the ability of the enemy that results in an action outside of love

III.   Recognizing Fear-What does fear look like?

A.    1 Corinthians 13:4-Whatever love is fear isn’t; whatever love isn’t fear is

1.      4-Fear’s not patient b/c it’s afraid things will never change; Fear that it’ll always be the way it

a.      Patience is when a continued & unfavorable situation or circumstance doesn’t change you

b.      More faith in the ability of the enemy to keep it this way, than faith in God to change it

2.      4-Fear’s not kind because it’s afraid:

a.      If it’s always adapting to meeting your needs then it’s needs won’t be met

1)      More faith in the ability of the enemy to see to it that your needs aren’t met, than faith in God to see to it that they are 

b.      If it's taking care of your good, then its good won’t be taken care of

1)      More faith in the ability of the enemy to see to it that your good won’t be taken care of, than faith in God that it will be taken care of

c.      If it’s too kind to you, you’ll take advantage of it 

1)      More faith in the ability of the enemy to see to it that you’re taken advantage of and therefore lose out, than faith in the ability of God to get you 100 fold of every seed of kindness that you sow

3.      4-Fear is envious because it’s afraid it will never get what you have

a.      More faith in the ability of the enemy to keep you from every having it, than faith in God to get it to you

4.      4-Fear vaunts itself because it’s afraid that you won’t think highly of it; It’s afraid that the truth won’t be enough to impress you

a.      Faith in the ability of the enemy to make you look bad, rather than faith in God to see to it that you look good

5.      4-Fear puffs himself up and puts others down because he’s afraid he won’t look good enough without knocking you down

6.      5-Fear is rude because:

a.      Fear dishonors others because it’s afraid it has no value himself

1)      More faith in the ability of the enemy to decrease your value, than faith in God to make you valuable

b.      Fear is carless and inconsiderate of others because it’s afraid that if it cares for others nobody will consider and care for it

1)      More faith in the enemy to see to it that you’re not taken care of, than faith in God to take care of you

c.      Fear that if I’m not rude people might think I’m soft in some way

d.      Fear is rude because it fears it won’t get its way

1)      More faith in the enemy to see to it that you get the short end of the stick, than faith in God to take care of you

7.      5-Fear is self-seeking b/c it’s afraid it he doesn’t seek his own nobody will

a.      More faith in the enemy 2 see 2 it that ur not taken care of, than faith in God 2 take care of u

8.      5-Fear is offended b/c it’s afraid you or others believe that to be the truth

a.      More faith in the enemy to keep the truth hidden, than in God see to it that it’s revealed

9.      5-Fear thinks evil

a.      Fear is a consistent thought pattern on what God didn’t say; the gospel is good news fear thinks on bad news

10.    6-Fear rejoices when others fall because it’s always afraid that somebody is going to get higher than me; It’s afraid if you look too good, it will make me look bad---Competitive jealousy

a.      More faith in enemy to keep you down, than God to promote you & raise up

11.    7-Fear doesn’t bear up under everything that comes; it breaks down in pressure

12.    7-Fear doesn’t believe because it’s afraid that it’s not true

13.    7-Fear doesn’t expect because it fears it’s hopes will be crushed

14.    7-Fear doesn’t endure because it’s not brave

15.    8-Fear always fails because it can’t connect to the power necessary to win

B.     All sin and disobedience to God is rooted in fear (1 John 5:3, John 14:15)

1.      Love keeps God’s commandments; Fear doesn’t

a.      If love is the root to your obedience, fear is the root to disobedience

2.      Afraid that if you do what God says you’re going to miss out on something or something negative is going to happen to you

a.      He was afraid that if he did what Jesus said, he’d lose all his stuff  (Mk 10)

3.      More faith in the ability of the enemy to cause you to miss out on something or to cause something negative to happen to you than God’s ability to see to it that preserved, protected, and well taken care of

C.    All strife is rooted in fear (Strife-Contention, wrangling)

1.      All strife is rooted in the fear that won’t get your way

a.      You’re contending and wrangling to get your way

b.      Genesis 26:20-Strife was the result of a fear of lack

2.      More faith in the ability of the enemy to work that thing out for your bad than faith in God to take care of you and work it out for your good

D.    All discouragement and depression is rooted in fear (Deuteronomy 1:21)

1.      Discouraged-Deprived of courage/confidence; depressed in spirit, dejected; dismayed or afraid

a.      Lack confidence and courage resulting in depressed emotions

2.      Discouragement is a fear that things are never going to change

a.      You get discouraged because the circumstances are a way that you don’t like them and you’re afraid they’re not going to change in the near future

3.      More faith in the ability of the enemy to keep it this way than God to change it

E.     All unbelief is fear dependent (Deuteronomy 1:26-32)

1.      Afraid that what God said won’t come to pass

a.      They didn’t believe b/c they were afraid what God said wouldn’t come to pass

2.      More faith in that ability of the enemy to keep God’s word from coming to pass than God to see to it that it comes to pass

F.     All unforgiveness and bitterness rooted in fear

1.      Afraid that if you forgive them that they’ll do it again

2.      Afraid if forgive them they’ll walk all over you

3.      Afraid if you forgive them what you’ll look like to others

G.   All laziness is fear of discomfort (Matthew 25:26)

1.      All flesh actions or a fear of the flesh not being comfortable

H.    Fear is: Impatient, Unkind, Envious, Prideful, Rude, Selfish, Offended, Thinking evil, Feels pleasure when somebody fails, Is not brave, Does not believe, Does not have high expectations, Disobeys God, Discouraged and depressed, Filled with strife, Holds unforgiveness, Lazy
