Defeating Fear
FOUNDATION STATEMENT: The enemy speaks words in
the form of a thought suggestion, a person gives their mind & attention to
those words, and through their mind it is fed into their spirit and with fear
in a their spirit they’ll act in fear and deactivate the anointing
I.
We must not take the
battle in the mind lightly-This has been taught on so much, the enemy has tried
to use the repetition of it to devalue it’s significance
A. Fear is the force that
Satan’s kingdom runs on; it deactivates the anointing and grants access to the
oppressor and that fear operates through the mind (Mt 14, Job 3, 2 Tim 1:7)
1.
If
fear doesn’t rule in your mind, it can’t reign in your spirit, and run your
life
2.
Fear
begins w/ a thought; if we’ll win the battle in the mind, we’ll win over fear
B. Winning in the mind is a
life or death issue (Romans 8:6)
1.
Carnal-Minded vs.
Spiritually-Minded-To
think spiritually would be to think in line with the Word- To think carnally is
to think on words that are in opposition to God’s Word (John 6:63)
2.
Carnal
thinking = death; Spiritual thinking
= life and peace
a.
Death-Force of death,
comprising all the miseries arising from sin
b.
Life-Absolute fullness of
life, blessed, life as God has it, power that darkness can’t overcome---Peace-security, safety, prosperity,
felicity-the joys of heaven, enjoyment of good
C. Why
is this life or death?-Everybody tells you winning in
the mind is important, but WHY
1.
If
you give your mind to Satan’s words (think carnally), fear will be fed in your
spirit and you’ll act on fear, deactivate the anointing, and the Satan will
bring death in every area of your life
a.
What
has mind will determine what’s in your spirit, faith or fear
b.
What’s
in your spirit, faith or fear, will determine how you act
c.
How
you act, in faith or fear, will determine if the anointing shows up
d.
The
anointing showing up or not will determine if you win or lose
2.
What
goes on in your mind is the difference between living and dying, prospering and
being in poverty, being healed or sick, winning or losing
a.
You
can know what God’s Word says and agree that the His Word is right, but that
doesn’t mean your mind is set on it
D. We’ve taken this battle
in the mind lightly b/c we haven’t made the proper connections:
1.
Connection #1: What u give your mind to
and whether or not u walk in faith or fear
2.
Connection #2: The faith or fear u act
on & whether or not the anointing shows up
3.
Connection #3: The anointing and the
results you got
4.
Connection #4: The results you got and
what you gave your attention to
E. Satan’s words being
spoken is the 1st step in the process of deactivating the anointing
1.
Steps
of progression in oppression
a.
Why
were they oppressed? Because the anointing was not working
b.
Why
wasn’t the anointing working? Because they acted in fear
c.
Why
did they act in fear? Because fear
was in their heart in abundance
d.
Why
was fear in their heart? Satan spoke words & they gave their mind to it
2.
Oppression
began when he spoke to you in a thought & you gave attention to it
II.
In the battle of the
mind, it will be determined whether you walk in fear, no anointing, and
defeat--or faith, the anointing and victory;
A. Satan’s after your
attention and it’s life or death; Without your attention he can’t get fear in
you, you won’t act in fear, and deactivate the anointing
B. Mark 5:25
1.
28-When
she heard the word and gave her attention to it---THE KEY ISSUE
a.
She Kept Saying-She opened the gate to
her spirit and faith was fed in there
2.
27-She
got so full and fed with faith that she
acted on it
a.
She’s
supposed to be separated from people, she’s sick, feeble and yet she presses
through thousands of people who are all trying to get to Him
3.
Her
whole life changed b/c she heard the word & gave her attention to it
a.
What
if when she heard that word she never gave another thought to it?
b.
Would
that have been the difference in her living and dying?
c.
Satan
couldn’t get her mind
C. Adam vs. Jesus
1.
Genesis
3-Adam and Eve died
a.
You
didn’t hear Eve respond the 2nd
time b/c she’s giving her attention to what he said
1)
Every
time Satan speaks you should hear yourself responding
b.
Satan
spoke again and Eve gave her attention to it; Satan got her mind
1)
Fear
was fed into her spirit, she acted in fear (disobeyed), and they died
2.
Matt
4-Satan’s trying to put fear in Jesus’ life that maybe he’s not the Son of God
a.
There’s
no evidence Satan’s there in the flesh; This is going on in Jesus’ mind
1)
It’s written-He answers the thought
that’s exalting against God’s Word
b.
Every
time Satan spoke you hear
Jesus responding to what he said
1)
Jesus
gave what Satan said no thought; Satan can’t get his mind
3.
It’s
the same devil speaking words to God’s man one lived and one died---What was
the difference between living and dying?
D. Peter vs. David-Two men
in 2 impossible situations; 1 succeeded; what’s the difference
1.
Matt
14:30-Peter wasn’t struck with fear until he turned his mind upon the wind and
when he did fear was fed into his spirit, the anointing shut off, and he lost
2.
1
Samuel 17-The enemy tried to talk fear into David through Goliath, the men of
Israel, and Saul, but every time they spoke David responded and won in the mind
E. Joshua & Caleb vs.
The Children of Israel
1.
The
Children Of Israel-You can tell what has their attention, by listening to what
they are saying; their attention is with the giants, the walls, and dying
2.
Joshua
and Caleb were looking at the same giants and the same walls but had no fear
because they didn’t give their mind to that and feed fear into their spirit
3.
They’re
all God’s people, they all heard and have the same promise, they all saw the
same giants and the same walls some died in the wilderness and some went into
the promise land and experienced God’s best---What was the difference?
III.
It’s what you do when
Satan speaks that’ll determine whether you walk in victory or defeat-2
Corinthians 10:3-5
A. There’s almost like a
stoppage of time in the realm of the spirit, when Satan has spoke and God has
spoke, to see what you’re going to give your attention to
1.
To
stop the operation of fear you MUST NOT give your attention to Satan’s words; You
have to commit to winning in the mind
B. Attend to God’s words (Proverbs
4:20, Psalm 1:1-3, Jeremiah 17:7-8)
1.
The
man who will attend to only to God’s word, will have a heart full of faith,
always act in faith, accessing the anointing, and therefore will always be able
to prosper no matter what the circumstances are
C. Isaiah 26:3-If you keep
your mind on God’s Word you won’t be in fear
1.
Peace
is the result of trust; trust is and act of faith; faith is the result of
giving your mind to God’s Word and opening the gate to your spirit
