Defeating Fear

FOUNDATION STATEMENT: The enemy speaks words in the form of a thought suggestion, a person gives their mind & attention to those words, and through their mind it is fed into their spirit and with fear in a their spirit they’ll act in fear and deactivate the anointing

I.      We must not take the battle in the mind lightly-This has been taught on so much, the enemy has tried to use the repetition of it to devalue it’s significance

A.    Fear is the force that Satan’s kingdom runs on; it deactivates the anointing and grants access to the oppressor and that fear operates through the mind (Mt 14, Job 3, 2 Tim 1:7)

1.      If fear doesn’t rule in your mind, it can’t reign in your spirit, and run your life

2.      Fear begins w/ a thought; if we’ll win the battle in the mind, we’ll win over fear

B.     Winning in the mind is a life or death issue (Romans 8:6)

1.      Carnal-Minded vs. Spiritually-Minded-To think spiritually would be to think in line with the Word- To think carnally is to think on words that are in opposition to God’s Word (John 6:63)

2.      Carnal thinking = death; Spiritual thinking = life and peace

a.      Death-Force of death, comprising all the miseries arising from sin

b.      Life-Absolute fullness of life, blessed, life as God has it, power that darkness can’t overcome---Peace-security, safety, prosperity, felicity-the joys of heaven, enjoyment of good

C.    Why is this life or death?-Everybody tells you winning in the mind is important, but WHY

1.      If you give your mind to Satan’s words (think carnally), fear will be fed in your spirit and you’ll act on fear, deactivate the anointing, and the Satan will bring death in every area of your life

2.      What goes on in your mind is the difference between living and dying, prospering and being in poverty, being healed or sick, winning or losing

a.      You can know what God’s Word says and agree that the His Word is right, but that doesn’t mean your mind is set on it

D.    We’ve taken this battle in the mind lightly b/c we haven’t made the proper connections:

1.      Connection #1: What u give your mind to and whether or not u walk in faith or fear

2.      Connection #2: The faith or fear u act on & whether or not the anointing shows up

3.      Connection #3: The anointing and the results you got

4.      Connection #4: The results you got and what you gave your attention to

2.      1 Samuel 17-The enemy tried to talk fear into David through Goliath, the men of Israel, and Saul, but every time they spoke David responded and won in the mind

E.     Joshua & Caleb vs. The Children of Israel

1.      The Children Of Israel-You can tell what has their attention, by listening to what they are saying; their attention is with the giants, the walls, and dying

2.      Joshua and Caleb were looking at the same giants and the same walls but had no fear because they didn’t give their mind to that and feed fear into their spirit

3.      They’re all God’s people, they all heard and have the same promise, they all saw the same giants and the same walls some died in the wilderness and some went into the promise land and experienced God’s best---What was the difference?

III.   It’s what you do when Satan speaks that’ll determine whether you walk in victory or defeat-2 Corinthians 10:3-5

A.    There’s almost like a stoppage of time in the realm of the spirit, when Satan has spoke and God has spoke, to see what you’re going to give your attention to

1.      To stop the operation of fear you MUST NOT give your attention to Satan’s words; You have to commit to winning in the mind

B.     Attend to God’s words (Proverbs 4:20, Psalm 1:1-3, Jeremiah 17:7-8)

1.      The man who will attend to only to God’s word, will have a heart full of faith, always act in faith, accessing the anointing, and therefore will always be able to prosper no matter what the circumstances are

C.    Isaiah 26:3-If you keep your mind on God’s Word you won’t be in fear
