In Your Place, In Your Grace

I.      God is longing to be gracious to you-Isaiah 30:18

A.    This paints a picture of a God who wants to be gracious to a people but can’t

1.      THEREFORE-Something caused him 2 wait-AND-Something connected 2 him waiting

B.     God’s will is to be gracious to you

1.      Exodus 22:7, 34:6-Grace is at the core of God’s being; He is grace   

a.    The God of all grace, The spirit of Grace, The Word of Grace, & Jesus came to the Earth full of grace (1 Peter 5:10, Hebrews 10:29, Acts 20:32, John 1:14)

2.      Psalm 84:11-God’s not a grace withholding God, He’s a grace giving God

3.      Isaiah 30:19-God wants to be very gracious to you

4.      2 Corinthians 9:8-God’s able to make all grace come to you

C.    If God wants to be gracious to them why doesn’t he just do it?

1.      There are things we can do that limit or enhance his ability to give grace (Ps 78:41)

2.      God is able to make all grace abound towards them, but His ability is being limited by stuff that they are doing

II.     One of the major problems they have is that they are not in their place-Isaiah 30:1-12

A.    A major key to walking in grace is to be in your place

1.      Rebellious people who are outside of the place given by the authority over them

2.      The authority has told them to be somewhere & they are somewhere else

B.     Your grace is always in the place your supposed to be

1.      2 Timothy 1:9-Your place and your grace go together

2.      1 Corinthians 12:18-God is the one gives the place

3.      Romans 12:4-6-We don’t all have the same place, the same grace, the same gifts

C.    There are specific graces and places and general graces and places

1.      You have a specific place and grace on your life (Doctor, secretary, your church)

2.      As believers we have general places that we should be (Faith, Love, Obedience)

D.    As believers when you leave your place, you miss your grace

1.      When you are outside of your place, God cannot be gracious to you

a.    1 of strongest ways 2 sure up God’s grace in ur life is to “Always be in ur place.”

2.      You’re not going to get grace from God when you’re not in the place of God

a.    Ecclesiastes 10:4-Whatever you do, do not leave your place

b.    Genesis 12:1-Abraham is given a new place and that’s where his grace is

III.   In a life of doing the word, you’ll find grace because the Word is your place-Isaiah 30:9-12

A.    As a believer, your God-given place is the Word of God

1.      John 15:4,7, 1 John 2:5-We are to abide in him and we do that by keeping his word

2.      One of the main ways you can see more of God’s grace in your life is by simply being a doer of the Word (Acts 14:3-The Word of Grace)

3.      You’re deceived if you think you can live a life full of God’s grace and give little to no time to the Word of God

B.     This Word assigns you place for every situation you encounter

1.      The only way to know where you’re place is, is to find it in the Word of God

a.    2 Peter 1:2-Knowledge about your place will lead to multiplied grace

2.      When God gives you His word, He gives you a place to be and when you reject His Word, you reject that place, and in doing so you reject grace

C.    1 Peter 2:3-When you’ve partaken of this Word & increased & grown b/c of it you have tasted that the Lord is gracious

1.      The beginning of seeing God’s grace in your life is a desire for the Word

a.    Believers see no grace b/c they have no desire 4 the Word

2.      As we grow and increase through the word we are tasting of God’s grace

D.    They are despising and rejecting his Word; not in their place

1.      When God tells you to do something that immediately becomes your “place”

2.      9-They will not hear, listen, & obey the Word of God & it kept them out of grace

a.    This is what keeps most believers out of grace today

E.     Don’t go down to Egypt; there’s no grace down there

1.      They went down to Egypt, but that’s not the PLACE they were supposed to be

a.    They didn’t profit or get help down there b/c there was no grace in that place

2.      Egypt is like the flesh; it profits you nothing (John 6:63)

a.    When you are walking in the flesh you are walking in opposition to the word of God and there is no grace there; Grace & profit is found in walking in the spirit

b.    They way they went down to Egypt in a time of need is the way we’ve been going to the flesh in the time of need

1)       You’ve been in need for a while so you get frustrated, discouraged; you’re going down to Egypt and there’s no grace down there

IV.   They missed out on their grace b/c they were not in faith

A.    2-They are in need of grace, but aren’t looking to the source of grace

1.      They’re going to Egypt to find something that only God can give

2.      The reason they are doing this is b/c they trust Egypt more than God

a.    Who you look to that’s who you trust 

B.     The main problems believers are having in receiving this grace from God is they aren’t looking to him b/c they don’t trust Him & they don’t trust him b/c they have no foundation of the word

1.      You can try to plug your toaster into your toilet, but you won’t find electricity there

a.    EX: They look to medicine, the economy, to their ability to save money

2.      Matthew 7:7-People aren’t seeking grace and that’s why they’re not finding it

a.    Where this is no demand for grace there will be do supply of grace (James 4:4)

b.    Is 30:19, Heb 4:16-What you are not in faith for, I cannot give to you by grace

1)       They gave God no faith & he had avenue in which 2 flow grace 2 them

3.      Practice looking to His grace for everything

a.    Develop a life that runs on the grace of God

C.    The thing you look to rather than looking to God will end up being your disgrace

1.       When u look to things for grace rather than God you’ll be separated from grace

a.     “Dis” is a prefix that means separation has taken place

2.      5-Egypt can’t profit b/c it can’t supply them w/ the grace they need (Heb 4:16)

a.    In a time of need you need grace to help, not Egypt to help

b.    Grace is what will profit them and it’s down in Egypt it’s with God

c.     Egypt was a disgrace to them – It separated them from grace

3.      They are not trusting him; no faith (Romans 5:2)

a.    Faith has always been the way to access God’s grace

V.    Grace is available for them if they’ll get back in their place (Isaiah 30:15-16)

A.    You’re saved by grace and grace is in your place-Return

1.      Your grace is in doing what God said

2.      Whatever situation you’re facing today you need to find out what God said about that situation and then get in your place by doing what he said & you’ll find grace

B.     They said no to grace, by saying no to their place

1.      When you say no to being in your place (the Word of God), you say no to grace

2.      They chose their own place; How many times have you chose to do what the Word said don’t-EX: I’m going to get frustrated, discouraged, be mad, worry

C.     The people who look (wait) to God and who are doing things the Kingdom way, being a doer of the Word will get the grace-Isaiah 30:19
