Revealing Your Authority

Foundation Statement: This “God is sovereign and in total control way of thinking” (1) strips the believer of dominion/control, (2) blinds them to the revelation of their authority and (3) leaves them in convenient place of no responsibility where they are (4) actively passive, doing nothing because they believe there’s nothing they can do

I.      God gave the dominion, the control to the man because He wanted the man to have it; If God wanted the dominion and control He would have just kept it

A.    It sounds to me like God is saying that we are in control and we are trying to say that He’s in control; it’s never good to disagree with God

1.      Genesis 1:26-Let THEM have dominion

2.      Genesis 1:28-Subdue the Earth

3.      Psalm 8:4-God created man to have the controls, the authority, the choice in the Earth

4.      Psalm 115:16-He gave the Earth to the children of men

5.      Deuteronomy 30:15-I am giving you the choice

6.      The reason believers have no revelation of their authority is because they haven’t heard this verse preached, they’ve heard we were created worship God so we have a whole generation of people who know how to sing songs, cry and wail and be desperate for God, but know little to nothing about exercising their authority in the Earth

B.     God is not controlling; He chose in His sovereignty to never control men and He doesn’t want control; In God’s sovereignty he chose to give you the controls

1.      Psalm 115:3, 135:6-What pleased the Lord was to let man choose; if it pleased Him to be in total control of every man on the planet then he would have set this thing up that way

2.      God is not a puppet master controlling everything and everybody on the Earth in His sovereignty

C.    God doesn’t want control. If He wanted control he’d have it.  He wants willful submission and obedience.  He doesn’t want to control you; He wants to work with you. – 1 Corinthians 3:9

1.      Genesis 2:15-17-This is what God wants in regards to their relationship with the tree

2.      Genesis 3:6,12-13-Who made them eat of this tree?

3.      Why didn’t God stop this if this is not what he wants? He is not all-controlling

4.      Who could have stopped this whole thing from happening? Who was in control in this situation and had authority to stop this? Adam and Eve

D.    God will not control you; he will not make you think, do, or say anything; he won’t force something on you that you don’t one even it’s something that would be a great benefit to you --- That’s not how he functions, that’s not how the kingdom functions

1.      Psalm 25:12-The choice is yours to make; In regards to your choice God stops at teaching what way to choose

II.     Satan has worked for years to keep this revelation of the authority of the believer away from the believer by blinding their minds to it

A.    Genesis 3:1-Satan worked to keep man from a revelation of his authority from the very beginning

1.      The insulation is right now you are not “as gods” – you are not rulers, judges, divine ones, godlike or mighty, but if you eat this you will be

2.      The insulation is you don’t have authority, God does and He doesn’t want you to have it and that’s why He told you not to eat of this tree because there’s something He doesn’t what you to see, something He doesn’t want you to be, and something He doesn’t want you to know

3.      The already have this authority, but they think they don’t, and they are in deception

B.     2 Corinthians 4:4-He works to keep you from seeing the truth because that will keep you in a position where you can be deceived

1.      If you ever see the truth about the authority that you have as a believer you will never be oppressed by the devil in any area of your life ever again

C.    These religious statements, “God is sovereign, God is in control,” while they may sound holy and scriptural to the uninformed ear, they disarm the believer and leave him in a powerless and impotent state

1.      One of the main statements Satan has used to blind the believe from a revelation of their authority is, “God is sovereign.  God is in control.”

2.      These are demonic lies filled with false humility created to deceive the religious; these statements were created to sound humble, religious, and holy but they are not the truth

a.    Any good lie/counterfeit has the appearance of the real

b.    Proverbs 14:12-Always beware of the way that seems right; just because it seems right does not mean that it is right and Satan likes to make his doctrine seem right

III.   If Satan can get you to lay stuff in the lap of God thinking He was the one with the authority and the responsibility & that you have none, then you will sit by passively while he actively destroys your life

A.    Through religion Satan has tried to paint this type of picture in the hearts of believers to get them to step into a place of spiritual passivity where they believe they have no authority and in turn will not exercise that authority and resist Him

1.      Satan wants you passive.  He wants you sitting back waiting on God, doing nothing in faith, sitting in your pew saying God is in control because while you quote that religious colloquialism and sit passively in unbelief he can continue to oppress you

2.      A position of passivity is the result of believing you have no authority (waiting on God even)

3.      Religion has spent the last 500 years trying to put the authority and controls back into hands of God and out of the hands of the believer so we have to look at verses and take the time to put the authority back in the lap of the believer where God laid it

4.      Babylonian based religion likes to paint this picture that God is in total control of everything that happens in your life and on the Earth and you have no say in the matter because you are not sovereign like He is

a.    Those statements lay the responsibility for everything that happens in your life in God’s lap

B.     Satan has tried for years to push this idea over on believers that you have no control, authority, or say about your life

1.      You get what life deals you and just make the best out of it

a.    Everything happens for a reason paints the picture that you have no say about what happens in your life

b.    This idea that you have no say and you just have to put up with what you get and play the cards you’ve been dealt --- He’s trying to push this sucker to get you passive and acceptant of things you don’t have to accept

c.     James 4:7-What you accept you won’t resist and what you don’t resist will stay in your life

2.      Satan doesn’t want you to see that you don’t have to be sick, broke, or defeated in any area and that if you will exercise your authority you can get free

a.    He wants you to think, there’s nothing you can do and that it has to be the way that it is

IV.   If God is total control the way some believe He is then that leaves the born again child of God who is living on Earth with no authority whatsoever

A.    The authority of the believer

1.      Deuteronomy 30:19-The choice is yours, not God’s

a.    Deuteronomy 30:15,19-Today I am giving you a choice between good and evil, between life and death. I am now giving you the choice between life and death, between God's blessing and God's curse, and I call heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Choose life.

2.      Matthew 16:19-We have the authority and power of the Kingdom of Heaven

a.    According to God the binding and loosing done on the Earth is done by you, not Him

b.    When I peer into Heaven by faith I find what God wants in the Earth and I am authorized to bind and loose accordingly

3.      Mark 11:23-You get what you say, not what God says

a.    God can say it about you, but your words carry more weight in your life than His

b.    It did not say, “He will have whatever God wants Him to have, because God is sovereign and he is not.”

4.      Luke 17:6-You speak to the mountain and it will obey you

5.      Matthew 17:20-Nothing in inline with the will of God for your life will be impossible for you

6.      James 4:7-You resist the devil and He’ll flee

B.     God’s not real fond of people trying to lay stuff in his lap, when he’s given them authority

1.      When you don’t believe you have authority you will do nothing and instead go to God and ask him to do something he’s already given you the authority to do

a.    For years believers have tried to make God responsible for things He has delegated to them

b.    You cannot delegate to God what He has already made you responsible for

c.     Why didn’t God keep the devil out of the Garden? He delegated that to Adam

d.    For many Christians, Christianity has become the practice of asking and begging God to do something that He has given them the authority to do

2.      Mark 9:22-23-This situation was not going to be determined by Jesus might or compassion, but rather by this man’s willingness to give Jesus the right

a.    He’s trying to put in the lap of Jesus’ ability/might and compassion

b.    Jesus lays it right back in the lap of his faith

3.      Mark 4:35-Jesus gave them the authority that they are seeing him exercise

a.    When they came to Jesus to do something that he authorized them to do it was met with a rebuke

4.      2 Corinthians 12:9-He has authority over the devil that he’s not exercising and he goes to God to get God to do something that he has the authority to do

a.    Is he resisting the devil or begging God? God did not say beg me and the devil will flee; He said resist him and He will flee

C.    Most people believe God has authority, but they don’t believe they have any

1.      If there is two things that Satan has worked the most to keep the believer from seeing it would have to be God’s will and their power (Their right and their might)

a.    Ephesians 1:19-The Apostle Paul prayed that your eyes would be opened to this power

b.    Colossians 1:9-Whatever the will of God is, is what you have the right to do and be

2.      We were created to rule, to reign, to have authority in the Earth-Psalm 8:6

a.    Genesis 1:26-God gave man dominion

1)       God set man in authority over all the Earth

2)       God told man to bring the Earth into subjection/bondage

b.    Revelation 1:5-6, 5:9-10-We are kings created to reign

c.     2 Corinthians 5:21-Born again people are supposed to be reigning

V.    The moment people get a revelation of their authority and start exercising it Satan will have somebody there (usually somebody religious) to try to stop them from doing it because he hates this teaching and he hates when people get a revelation of their authority

A.    Then when a believer does get revelation of their authority this religious devil will rise up in people and say, “Well who do you think you are?” – 1 Samuel 17:26-28

1.      When people start talking in an authoritative matter Satan worked through Babylonian based religion and called it pride

2.      Babylonian based religion will always call faith and authority pride

3.      Satan’s tried to hide the authority of the believer in false humility

B.     Matthew 21:21-23-Jesus is teaching on authority and he’s exercising his authority and Satan had somebody religious there to rise up and say well who do you think you are

C.    Acts 4:7-Peter and John got the guy healed who laid at the gate and Satan had religious people there to try to get them to stop by saying who do you think you are to do this
