Get Your Mouth In Gear

I.      Theirs is no verse of scripture that exempts the believer from experiencing pressure.  There are however many verses of scriptures that exempt the believer from experiencing defeat in the pressured situation.

A.    We have an adversary who comes to steal, kill, and destroy-1 Peter 5:8, John 10:10

B.     We should not be surprised or think it to be strange when we experience pressure-1 Peter 4:12

1.      The righteous will experience affliction, persecution, and pressure, but if they will live by faith and obey God they can experience victory no matter what they may be facing-Psalm 34:19

2.      John 16:33-Be of good cheer, you can have victory in the middle of a pressured situation

C.    Psalm 40:1-3-God is a God who delivers people from the pit, the dark place, the pressured situation

1.      In the midst of pressure it’s your responsibility to resist the enemy steadfast in faith, standing on God’s word refusing to cave in under the pressure-James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:9

II.     Get your mouth in gear.  You’re going to have to speak words of faith that are in line with God’s Word.  Line your words up with the Word of God and the decisions you’ve made---(You can’t say, I will not fear and two seconds later say I’m so afraid)

A.    James 1:26-In the dark place, in troubled times, it’s imperative that you get control of your mouth

1.      You must get control of your mouth to make your decision profitable

a.    If you can’t control your mouth you’re praying and giving and decision making and praising is useless, profitless, void of power

b.    Your mouth is so powerful that it can mess up everything you do spiritually

2.      You can’t walk in victory and talk defeat

a.    Some people get under pressure and just love to talk the problem; they want to talk about the circumstances and how they feel and vent (Ventors will not be victors)-Hebrews 4:14-16

3.      Your mouth is powerful enough to keep you in that pit or get you out of it

a.    No matter how dark of a situation you are facing if you will speak words that are in line with God’s words you can overcome and triumph in the face of that darkness

B.     James 3:1-6-Now that you’ve made a decision of where you’re going you’re have to turn your life to that destination and keep it set there with the Words of your mouth

1.      If you want out of the pit, if you want out of the dark place, if you want victory in troubled times then steer your life in that direction with the words of your mouth

2.      EX: If you wanted to go from your house to your local supermarket, but were always turning your car in the opposite direction it would be impossible for you to get there.  The same holds true for your words and your life.  If you want victory then you must not turn your life away from the victory that you desire with the words of your mouth.  You cannot expect to reach a destination that you are always turning away from with your confession. However, if you’ll determine in your heart to only say what God says you can literally steer yourself out of the dark place and into victory with the words of your mouth.

3.      Until you get your mouth in gear and your words going the right direction you have no scriptural right to believe that you will ever be freed from the pit or delivered from the dark place; you can’t go somewhere your words aren’t going first

C.    Your words are powerful & in the dark place you need to get them working for you-Pr18:21,Rev12:11

1.      Psalm 23-David wrote this psalm during of the most dangerous times in his life.  He was fleeing from King Saul and his army.  David hid himself in a barren, desolate, forest called Hareth, which means a parched and dry like baked earthenware. God did not cease to be David’s source.  He soaked this dry forest with moisture, which had the appearance of the Heaven On Earth, making even the grass and the leaves of the forest tender and edible.  This revealed David that God provides at all times even when the chances of survival seem to be non-existence.

a.    He obviously had the opportunity to complain, have a pity party, speak words of doubt and unbelief but he knew in the situation that he was in he needed to get his words working for him and not against him

b.    David is in a pit, a dark place and he starts using his words like a mechanic would use a tool

2.      Most people in the pit aren’t even using their most powerful tools to benefit them, their words

a.    It’s no wonder some people have camped out in the dark place and been there so long; they won’t speak anything in faith; you don’t get out of the pit and experience victory in troubled times by speaking words of doubt and unbelief; yielding to unbelief and discouragement never caused victory to manifest in anybody’s life-Matthew 6:25

b.    You use your words in that dark place like a mechanic uses a tool; he uses that tool on purpose with a purpose to fix a problem

c.     You won’t get out of the pit by being silent and by saying nothing either; quiet people who say nothing are operating in passivity and will never come out of the pit until they open their mouth and speak words of faith

1)       Rev 12:11-If we are going to overcome we’re going to have to say something to do so

3.      Speaking words that are not in line with God’s word is one of the worst things you can do in a pressured situation; by speaking in such a way you can dig yourself deeper into a hole

4)       Proverbs 12:13-14-The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble. A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth:

4.      In the dark place your words can hurt you or they can help you so choose wisely

a.    In the dark place you can literally bring forth more evil by speaking evil things; sometimes people are their own worst enemy.  Many times peoples’ mouths are their biggest problem, not the devil.  You cannot afford to speak doubt and unbelief in that dark place.  By doing so you perpetuate darkness, evil, and negative things in your life.

1)       Proverbs 16:30-He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

b.    In the pit your mouth can be the place from which life, victory and deliverance springs.

D.    One of the biggest challenges that you’ll face in a trying time is the challenge of not allowing your circumstances to dictate your speech

1.      Don’t let the dark place infect your language; don’t let the pit your in determine your confession; it’s the confession of faith in the pit, in the dark place, in the trying time that will bring deliverance

2)       Proverbs 16:13-Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

2.      In an attempt to control your confession the enemy increases the pressure; when the enemy doesn’t like what you’re saying he’ll always increase the pressure to try to control your confession; Satan’s got to get that word out of your mouth-Daniel 3, 1 Samuel 17

c.     God’s said it, Jesus has said it, but you’re not justified by their words you’re justified by your words; The judge & your lawyer could say you’re not guilty, but if you say you are, you are

d.    Romans 4:17-Take what you are by faith, not what you’re going to be; Talk like you’re out of the pit in the pit; Are you healed? Well I’m going to be.  So you are not? Correct

E.     Staying full of the word will be a major key to speaking the word when pressure shows up and to stay full of the Word you’re going to have to fill up everyday-Matthew 12:34

1.      What you are full of will always find a way of making it to the surface
