Not Time To Judge
I.
There’s
no excuse for judging-Romans 2:1
A. He’s
dealing with a group of people in Romans 1 who are way off being judged by
another group of people
1.
Rom1:18-Judgment (wrath-anger
exhibited in punishment) awaits people who are going to reject God and won’t
nothing do with him
a. 19-The
held the truth and that which was known of God was manifest to them – Sin
has to do with what you know
2.
These
were people in Romans 1…
a. 18-Held
the truth in unrighteousness
b. 19-That
which may be known of God was manifest in them
c. 21-They
knew and recognized God as God but wouldn’t acknowledge Him as God
d. 22-They
think they are so smart and that they have evolved in their intelligence
e. 25-They
have called God’s truth a lie
f.
25-They
are worshipping and serving the creation, not the creator
g. 26,27-They
are over into homosexuality
h. 28-They
didn’t want God, they didn’t want the truth, they didn’t want the knowledge of
God
i.
32-They
know judgment is coming, they are defiant and rebellious and stubborn and they
get pleasure in others being like them
B. The
temptation, when you see people in a downward spiral of sin and darkness, is to
judge them and feel superior, but, just because people get way off doesn’t give
you an excuse to judge them or a license to judge them
1.
MSG-Those
people are on a dark spiral downward. But if you think that leaves you on the
high ground where you can point your finger at others, think again.
2.
ERV-So
do you think you can judge those other people? You are wrong. You too are
guilty of sin. You judge them but you do the same things they do.
3.
Say it: When I see people
in a downward spiral of sin and darkness I will not judge, I will not feel
superior, I will cry mercy for them.
II.
Two big
things that are going to help you not to judge: 1) It’s not time to judge 2)
You are not the judge
A. Romans
2:2-We are sure God’s judgment is right and it will come against them which
commit such things and the insinuation is you don’t have to get involved in
judging because there is already a judge who is going to judge and he’s going
to do it right
1.
ERV-God
judges all who do such things and we know his judgment is right
2.
TLB-And
we know that God in justice, will punish anyone who does such things as these
3.
JBP-God’s
judgment, we know, is utterly impartial in its action against such evil-doers
B. It’s
not time to judge-1 Corinthians 4:5
1.
The
reality is that people in this type of position, if they don’t repent they are going
to get judged by The Judge-Romans 2:6-11
2.
They
might scathe through this life and everything appear okay and fine, but this
life isn’t all that there is and there is coming a very real judgment
and if they don’t repent they will be judged-Hebrews 9:26
a. If the Lord tarries his coming we’re going to breathe or last
and go be with Him and then after that there’s coming the day of judgment and
one thing that will help us to not judge each other here is to realize it’s not
time for judgment, that comes later
b. Time is moving toward
that day of judgment and there’s coming a time where everybody will be standing
before the throne whether they believe it or not and it’s coming to pass
3.
Romans
14:10-13-You don’t need to judge because you’re not the judge and it’s not time
to judge and you don’t have to be concerned about someone getting judged
because we all are going to stand before the judgment seat of Christ
4.
Revelation
20:3,7-10-Why does judgment have to come? Know this if it does come it wasn’t
what God wanted and it wasn’t his choice
a. You
would think after a 1000 years of being locked up he might get the idea that he
needs to change, but it just proves no matter how much time you would give him
and those who follow him, they’re not going to change
b. If beings are never going
to repent and never going to change, something has to be done with them, and
that falls to God
c. It wasn’t God’s choice it
was their choice and they proved they would never repent no matter how much
time you gave them
5.
Say it: There is coming a
very real judgment, but now is not the time to judge and I am not the judge.
Every person including me will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and
therefore I don’t need to judge anybody.
C. You are
not the judge-1 Corinthians 4:4
1.
Who
are you to judge? – Romans 14:4, James 4:12, 1 Corinthians 4:7
a. The
insinuation is who do you think are to have the audacity to think that you
could judge?
b. Romans 2:1-JBP-If
you feel inclined to set yourself up as a judge of those who sin, let me assure
you, whoever you are, you are in no position to do so
c. Say it: Who am I to judge, to try in sit in God’s place
and do His job? I am in no position to judge.
2.
You
are not qualified to judge
a. 1
Corinthians 11:31-The only way you would be equipped and qualified to judge is
if God equipped you and qualified you to do ti and
because God never told you to judge people you are not equipped or empowered to
do it
b. James
4:17-When judging God looks on the heart, in looks at a man’s conscience, he
evaluates what a man knew inside and you have no way of looking inside of a
man; if you don’t know what he knows then you can’t know if he sinned
1)
To
him that knows, TO HIM it is sin and so if he doesn’t know that it’s not sin
2)
Acts
15:8-God knows the hearts of men and you don’t know
3)
1
Corinthians 4:5-When God judges he’s going to make known the counsels of the
hearts
c. John
8:15, 7:24-Man judges according to the flesh, according to what he sees, and
his is judgment is not just because man is limited in what he sees, He doesn’t
see it all and therefore he cannot judge righteously
1)
To
judge perfectly right you have to see everything perfectly-Hebrews 4:13
2)
Say it:
Because I don’t see everything I am qualified no judge no man
3.
God
committed all judgment into the hands of Jesus and he is uniquely qualified to
judge b/c he is both God and man-Acts 17:31
a. There
could be those who standing before the Father in judgment say, “You’re God and
you don’t know what’s it’s like to live on the Earth and to be subject to the
weakness and frailties of humanity and be tempted with evil so how could you
judge us?”
b. Jesus has been in our
place and far beyond it experiencing what we experienced and proved that nobody
HAD to sin
c. Because He is God He can
see all he needs to see and because He’s man he’s sat in your place
