Your Relationship With Money

Foundation Statement: The wrong relationship with money is the root to all evil (1 Timothy 6:10,17-18)

 

I.      God doesn’t mind you having money or things in abundance; it’s the wrong relationship with that money and those things that he doesn’t like

A.    10-God doesn’t want you loving money

1.     Loving money is being committed to it, obeying it, and trusting in it

2.     Love of money-Covetous-A strong or unreasonable desire of obtaining and possessing a supposed good; unquenchable desire of gain; believing life consist having it and that you can’t be fulfilled without it

a.    Loving anything more than God leads to evil (1 Jn 2:15, 2 Tim 3:4, Mt 6:24)

b.    Follow after-Seek after eagerly, earnestly endeavor to acquire, pursue; don’t follow after money; don’t make decisions based on how you get more money, make decisions in life based on how you can develop in these things

B.     17-God doesn’t want you trusting in money

1.     Trusting in money carries the idea of looking to money to do things for you that you that you should be looking to God for

2.     Trust-The ground upon which hope rest; expecting that more money and things will do something for you than only God can do

a.    If your hope rests in money that’s wrong

C.    Because people haven’t understood that basic point they’ve rejected going to a higher level in money and things and as a result have been hindered from being a greater blessing in the Earth

II.     Money is neither bad nor good; it has no ethical gender; Money is a multiplier and magnifier

A.    Proverbs 10:16 (AMP)-If you put money into the hands of the wicked, his wickedness will be multiplied; put money into the hands of the righteous and his righteousness will be multiplied

B.     Genesis 13:10-13, Ezekiel 16:49 – The people in Sodom where wicked so abundance multiplied their wickedness

C.    Proverbs 1:32 – A fool’s prosperity will multiply his foolishness 

III.   God gives richly-abundantly, extravagantly, lavishly, extremely, immensely,

A.    This reveals his nature and who he is

B.     Gen 2:8 – Eden –Pleasure, Luxury (lavishness, comfort, magnificence, extravagance) Delight, delicates, dainty (Elegant, Refined, Pretty) finery (fine, best clothes, splendor, show articles of dress)

C.    Psalm 23:5 – Your cup runs over-Saturate, Wealthy

D.    Judges 18:10 – He had a land for them that lack no thing in the Earth
