The God Of The Prophets

1.     Hosea-God prospered them, but they forgot Him and left Him and when they did they lost it all-Hosea 9:2,6,11,10:1,12:8,14:1-6

A.    2:8-God multiplied their silver and their gold; He lavished it upon them

1.     MSG-She didn’t know it was I all along who wined and dined and adorned her, That I was the one who dressed her up in the big city-fashions and jewelry

B.     4:6-10-This poverty came as they disobeyed

1.     13:6-God prospered them and they forgot him and they lost it all

2.     Joel-Lack was in the land-1:9-12-Lack was there because the weren’t serving God with their whole heart-2:12-13-If they repent the prosperity will come back-2:19-26

A.    2:19-28-When you turn back to God it’s prosperity in abundance

3.     Amos-The left God to serve other god’s and they did immoral stuff (2:6).  When they did they stopped prospering (3:15, 4:6-7)

A.    5:6,14-Seek the Lord that you may live prosperously

B.     9:13-It’s going to come up faster than you can harvest it and when it’s time to sow again you’ll still be reaping

1.     NIV-The days are coming, declares the LORD, when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes.

2.     Message-Yes indeed, it won't be long now." God's Decree. "Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won't be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I'll make everything right again for my people Israel: They'll rebuild their ruined cities. They'll plant vineyards and drink good wine. They'll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables. And I'll plant them, plant them on their own land. They'll never again be uprooted from the land I've given them." God, your God, says so.

3.     NLT-The time will come,” says the Lord, “when the grain and grapes will grow faster than they can be harvested.

4.     CEV-13You will have such a harvest that you won't be able to bring in all of your wheat before plowing time. You will have grapes left over from season to season; your fruitful vineyards will cover the mountains.

5.     NCV-The Lord says, "The time is coming when there will be all kinds of food. People will still be harvesting crops when it's time to plow again. People will still be taking the juice from grapes when it's time to plant again.

4.     Obadiah-Edom were the seed of Esau and they messed with God’s people and his message to them was you shouldn’t have done that

A.    13-You shouldn’t have rejoiced when God’s people fell and you shouldn’t have touched their stuff

B.     11,17-The house of Jacob is going to get their stuff back

5.     Micah

A.    4:10-13-Their wealth and profit will be set apart for God and his people

B.     5:4-Prophesying about Jesus coming they say he’s going to be shalom to you

C.    6:8-The Lord has shown you prosperity; all He requires is that you obey Him

D.    7:15-20-In spite of Israel’s unfaithfulness to God, the Lord intends to fulfill his unconditional promises in the Abrahamic Covenant made to Abraham and confirmed with Isaac and Jacob

6.     Nahum-Nineveh was a city in pride about itself and it was coming down

A.    1:7-The Lord is good, rich, prosperous, kind, pleasant

1.     1:15-The one who’s coming preaches shalom

B.     2:2,9-God’s restoring the excellency of Jacob

7.     Haggai-Israel was allowed to return to Babylon to her homeland under the civil leadership of Zerubbabel and the spiritual guidance of Joshuah the High Priest. They began to rebuild the temple, but opposition cause the work to be abandoned. 16 years later Haggai and Zecharaiah were commissioned by the Lord to stir the people up to rebuild the temple and reorder their spiritual priorities.

A.    1:5-11-You’re not supposed to be reaping little & living in lack so consider your ways

1.     There in lack because they have the wrong relationship with money

B.     2:8-The silver and gold are his and ours

1.     2:9-He will give peace

C.    2:15-19-I will make you rich

1.      15-17"'Think back. Before you set out to lay the first foundation stones for the rebuilding of my Temple, how did it go with you? Isn't it true that your foot-dragging, halfhearted efforts at rebuilding the Temple of God were reflected in a sluggish, halfway return on your crops—half the grain you were used to getting, half the wine? I hit you with drought and blight and hail. Everything you were doing got hit. But it didn't seem to faze you. You continued to ignore me.' God's Decree. 18-19"'Now think ahead from this same date—this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Think ahead from when the Temple rebuilding was launched. Has anything in your fields—vine, fig tree, pomegranate, olive tree—failed to flourish? From now on you can count on a blessing.'"

8.     Zechariah-Haggai was used to start the revival using a rebuke towards the people. Zecharaih was used to keep it going with a more positive emphasis calling people to repentance and reassuring them regarding future blessings.

A.    1:17-(AMP)-My cities shall overflow with prosperity

1.     2:4-5-So many people and cattle that they can’t have walls

2.     2:8-9-God’s people are getting the stuff back

3.     3:3-4-Rich clothes

4.     7:7-14-They were prospering, they disobeyed and they stopped prospering

B.     8:7-16-The prosperity of God’s people

1.     9:12-Double prosperity

2.     10:8-They shall increase exceedingly

3.     14:1-MSG-Note well: God’s judgment day is on the way: “Plunder will be piled high and handed out.”

4.     14:14-Silver, gold, and clothes in great abundance abundance

9.     Malachi 3:10-The temple had been rebuilt less than a century later the ritual of theh Jews’ religious routine lead to hard-heartedness toward God’s great love for them and a departure from His law. Malachai rebukes them and these abuses and calls them to repentance.

A.    1:7-8-They had the wrong relationship with money and things; they were brining God second best because they wanted first best

B.     2:4-8-If they’d obeyed God they would have seen the Covenant of Shalom manifest

C.    3:7-12-God wanted to overflow them with blessings

1.     12-All nations will call you blessed
