Lies About Financial Prosperity

1.     LIE: Prosperity will destroy you and money is the root to all evil-Prov 1:32, 1Timothy 6:10

A.    People have given prosperity the place of “the foundation to destruction”

1.     The destruction didn’t come as a result of the prosperity, but it came as the result of the lack of wisdom

2.     Proverbs 4:6-Get wisdom and don’t be a fool

B.     I know a lot of people who are extremely rich (in every realm) who haven’t been destroyed; I know nobody who lacks the wisdom of God and doesn’t have some form of destruction working their life

C.    TRUTH: Prosperity will destroy the fool 

2.     LIE: God makes some people poor and some people rich-Proverbs 22:2

A.    God’s not making anybody poor; poverty comes through disobedience-Deuteronomy 15:4-6,11

1.     God made the person who is poor and he made the person who is rich, but their poverty or prosperity lies in their obedience or disobedience

a.    God’s not determining who’s rich and who’s poor, because he’s not determining who obeys and disobeys Him

2.     God made the sinner, made the murderer; God made the devil, but he didn’t create that person to sin, he didn’t create that person to murder, and He didn’t create the devil to be the devil

B.     Neither prosperity nor poverty is in the hands of God; God has placed prosperity into the obedience of His commands and poverty is placed into the disobedience of His commands

1.     Prosperity is in its improper place if you placed it in the hands of God; he’s not determining who prospers, He’s the reason why prosperity is available

C.    TRUTH: God isn’t determining who’s poor or who’s rich, that lies in the hands of the obedient or disobedient

3.     LIE: We shouldn’t be rich-Proverbs 23:4

A.    Rich does not get the place of my labor; if rich does its out of place

1.     It’s the place of The Blessing to make me rich (Proverbs 10:22)

B.     People do this all the time when they work for a living

C.    The place of my labor

1.     Hebrews 6:10-Love gets my labor

2.     Hebrews 4:3,11-Faith gets my labor

3.     John 6:27-The Word gets my labor

4.     1 Timothy 4:7-Character gets my labor

5.     Ephesians 4:28-Being a blessing to other’s gets my labor

6.     My call and assignment gets my labor

D.    TRUTH: I don’t labor to be rich that’s the blessing’s place, it makes me rich; I labor to love, to live by faith, and to fulfill God’s call on my life

4.     LIE: Don’t desire to be rich-Proverbs 28:20

A.    Don’t give being rich the place of your urgency; Give the call of God urgency, Give obedience to God urgency, give faithfulness your urgency

1.     2 Timothy 4:2-Be urgent to do what God’s called you to do

2.     If you’ll give obedience to God your urgency and haste (that’s their proper place) He’ll make you rich

a.    I don’t got to be rich; I got to obey God and that’s first!

B.     When you’re in hurry to be rich you’ll do it at any cost

1.     Being rich shouldn’t get your “do it any cost”; that place is reserved for obedience to God

C.    The balance of this scripture is don’t be in a hurry to be rich; let your faithfulness work for you

1.     You don’t want your prosperity to get out ahead of your faithfulness; rich goes with faithfulness, that’s it’s proper place; faithfulness is not what you do in a hurry, it’s what you do over time

a.    Pass faithfulness tests qualifies you for more and keeps you safe

D.    TRUTH: I’m urgent about obeying God and doing what He’s asked me to do and when I’m faithful to do that He’ll make me rich

5.     LIE: We shouldn’t desire to be poor or rich, but just moderate-Proverbs 30:1-9

A.    2-3-This guy didn’t have wisdom nor the knowledge of the holy and prosperity would have destroyed him

1.     He’s smart enough to know He’s stupid

B.     If you had wisdom you wouldn’t do these things

1.     9-Only a fool would get full/abundance and then deny God

a.    if you have abundance and you have wisdom you thank God for it knowing He’s the reason why you have abundance

2.     9-Only a fool would be poor and steal and take the name of God in vain

a.    If you’re poor and you have wisdom you sow what you God and stand on the Word for a harvest

C.    If you place prosperity and money outside of the life of the believer then you’ve given it an improper place

1.     The proper place for money is in the hands of the believer

D.    TRUTH: Neither poverty nor average is for me the believer.  Most blessed is for the believer.  I’ll take riches and wisdom so that I can be a great blessing in the Earth

6.     LIE: Jesus was keeping them broke-Luke 9:3,22:35

A.    God’s teaching them to rely on him as their source and not trust in their bag of gold; he’s not against them having gold, he’s against them trusting in it

B.     It’s just like the children of Israel who God saw to it that they left Egypt with all of the stuff, but then he took them to a place where they couldn’t spend it

1.     He teaching them to trust in Him and not their stuff

C.    TRUTH: God obviously didn’t mind them having stuff because they lacked nothing.  He wanted them to look to Him to provide the provision rather than looking to themselves for the provisions that they could provide.

7.     LIE: You don’t want to be rich because miseries will come on you-James 5:1-6

A.    You rich men-Who’s he talking to?

1.     The cheated people out of money

2.     They stored up for themselves and were selfish

3.     They killed the just

B.     Their riches were gotten by unrighteousness and they had sorrow with it

1.     That’s why they were to weep and they had miseries coming on them

2.     They exalted money to an improper place

C.    TRUTH: The blessing will make you rich and there will be no sorrow with it

8.     LIE: Jesus was poor so we should be poor-2 Corinthians 8:9

A.    Jesus lacked nothing when he walked the Earth

1.     He was rich in heaven and came to the Earth

2.     All the stuff that was brought to him at his Birth

3.     His staff

4.     He fed 5,000 men not counting their wives and children

5.     The soldiers cast lots for his clothes

B.     TRUTH: Jesus became poor so that you could be rich

9.     LIE: The only way to truly be rich is to have nothing-Proverbs 13:7

A.    He that Makes Himself rich

1.     This guy thinks he’s rich and he thinks he did it himself; It’s not even possible for a man to make Himself truly rich

a.    Because he can’t save himself, a man can’t heal himself, a man can’t provide himself peace of mind, a man by himself can’t walk in love, and I man by himself can’t have money and things with no sorrow

2.     I didn’t make myself rich the Lord and the blessing did that

a.    Genesis 14-Let no man say that he made Abraham rich

b.    If you think you made yourself rich apart from God you have nothing

B.     If make yourself poor and realize you have nothing without God, then you’ll have great riches

1.     Proverbs 22:4-By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches

C.    TRUTH: I recognize without God, I have nothing; I can’t make myself rich that’s the place of The Blessing of the Lord
