Be The Prosperous Man
FOUNDATION STATEMENT: The
prosperous man is the one through whom God can work and meet the needs of
hurting people
I.
What the prosperous man looks like (2 Corinthians 9:8, Psalm
112:1-10)
A. 1-The character of the
fear of the Lord qualifies you for abundant prosperity
1. Many people like to have
the stuff that comes after this verse, but aren’t willing to do what it takes
to develop in this verse
2. Character is what
activates The Blessing in your life (Proverbs 10:22)
B. 3-Wealth and riches are
in his house and he isn’t running out
1. His prosperity remain
forever because he’s learned how to receive a source that never changes; no
matter what’s going on he’ll be well taken care of
C. 4-The upright are the
light in darkness
1. God is his light and then
he is the light preventing misfortune for people
2. You’re the light of
world-Matthew 5:14-15, Ephesians 5:8
D. 5-This man deals
generously-This man appears to be reckless with his money because he gives it
so readily, but this is not the case; He is prudent and cautious in his
financial dealings because he has the realization that the money is not his own
for his is merely a trustee for the distribution of God’s funds
E. 7-He doesn’t fear the
evil report
1. He doesn’t fear the evil
report because he doesn’t love stuff, trust stuff, nor did he get this stuff
from the world; he got what he got from working the Kingdom of God system
– There’s no sorrow with his riches (Prov
10:22)
2. I didn’t prosper because
of the world’s news report, I prospered because of God’s news report and his
never changes
F. 1,8-He has the right
relationship with money and things (1 Tim 6:10,17)
1. 1-He doesn’t fear,
reverence, or love things; He fears and loves God
a. Matthew 6:24 – You
can’t love/fear God and money
b. He’s not committed,
attached to, obedient to stuff
c. 9-AMP-He distributes what
the Lord has blessed him with freely

Corinthians 9:10-MSG-He throws caution to the wind and gives to the needy with
reckless abandon
2. 8-He doesn’t trust in
uncertain riches, but in the living God who has given him richly all things to
enjoy and he is ready to distribute and willing to communicate
a. Trust-To have confidence,
to be secure, to feel safe, be careless
b. His security and confidence
is not in wealth he’s stored up, but in the God who gave it to him and He’s not
looking to money or things to do stuff for him that only God can do
3. He’s located and
established purpose for financial prosperity and he’s got an abundance of
prosperity and he’s enjoying it to the full and being a blessing to the full
G. He is righteous man who’s
full of compassion and gracious and he’s given to the poor and at the same time
he’s not becoming poor to do it and has expensive stuff in his house
1. 9-His prosperity endures
for every-2 Cor 9:11-Thus you’ll be enriched
2. His horn is lifted up
with abundance, riches, glory, and honor
H. The wicked see the
prosperity of the righteous and don’t like it (Mark 10:30)
II.
God has a heart for
people who are in lack and he’s looking for volunteers to be the men that he
can work through
A. Deuteronomy 15:1-15-Poor-In want, needing, thing needed,
lack, thin, low, destitute of wealth, influence, position, and honor, lacking
in anything, helpless, powerless to accomplish and end
1. 4-5-If people will obey
God they wouldn’t be poor
2. 6-He put ruling and
reigning together with not borrowing and lack
3. 7-1 John 3:17-Have your
bowels of compassion open and be willing to help everybody in need, but
understand you’re not their source and to help them when God’s not leading you
to would be to hurt them
a. Be led because some
people who lack money or things don’t need the money or things they need a
lifestyle change
4. 8-Don’t just give enough
to lessen the pressure of the need for a while, but enough to meet the need
5. 9-To not be willing to
give to the one in need who the Lord is leading to would be to sin
6. 10-You’ll give to him
with a willing and pleased heart
7. 11-The poor is never
going to cease because there will always be people who disobey God
8. 12-15-Be ready to bless
people in abundance who the Lord leads you to because before He blessed you,
you were in lack
B. God and the Poor
1. Leviticus 23:22-And when
ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the
corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt
thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor,
and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
2. Job 5:15- But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from
the hand of the mighty.
3. Job 36:15-He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
4. Psalm 12:5-For the
oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that
puffeth at him.
5. Psalm 34:6-This poor man called
out, and the LORD heard him, and gave
him victory in all his troubles.
6. Psalm 35:10-All my bones
shall say, LORD, who is like unto
thee, which rescues the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor
and the needy from him that spoileth him?
7. Psalm 68:10-Thy
congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy prosperity
for the poor.
8. Psalm 72:4, 12-13- He
shall defend the poor of the people, he shall give victory to the children of
the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.12 For he shall rescue the
needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. 13 He shall have
compassion on the poor, and shall save the souls of the needy.
9. Ps 107:41 LB-He sets the
poor on high from affliction, and gives them many children and much prosperity
10. Psalm 109:31-For he shall
stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.
11. Psalm 113:7-He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the
dunghill;
12. Psalm 132:15-I will
abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy (stuffed, desires satisfied,
have in excess) her poor with bread.
13. Psalm 140:12-I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted,
and the right of the poor.
14. Proverbs 29:13-The poor
and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lightens both their eyes.
15. Isaiah 25:4- For thou
hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a
refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat
16. John 13:29-Judas got up
from the table and they just thought Jesus told him to go minister to the poor;
this was done often
C. Our relationship with the
poor
1. Proverbs 14:21-He that
despises his neighbor sins: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
2. Proverbs 14:31,17:5-Whoso
mocketh the poor reproacheth
his Maker:
3. Proverbs 19:4-Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
4. Proverbs 19:17-He that
hath pity upon the poor lends unto the LORD; and that
which he hath given will he pay him again.
5. Proverbs 21:13-Whoso stops
his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be
heard.
6. Proverbs 22:9-He that
hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he gives of
his bread to the poor.
7. Proverbs 22:16-He that
oppresses the poor to increase his riches
shall surely come to want.
8. Proverbs 22:22-23-Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress
the afflicted in the gate: For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the
soul of those that spoiled them.
9. Proverbs 28:8-He that by
usury and unjust gain increases his substance, he shall gather it for him that
will pity the poor.
10. Proverbs 28:27- BBE
He who gives to the poor will never be in need, but great curses will be on him
who gives no attention to them.
11. Proverbs 29:7-The
righteous considers the cause of the poor: but
the wicked regards not to know it.
12. Proverbs 29:14-The king
that faithfully judges the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
13. Proverbs 31:9-Open thy
mouth, judge righteously, and administer justice for the poor and needy.
14. Proverbs 31:20-She
stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reaches forth her hands to the
needy.
III. Poverty Basics
A. Poverty/Lack is curse; it
came in the Earth through Adam’s disobedience
1. God hates poverty (Hebrews
1:9)
2. Proverbs 10:15-If poverty
were God’s will He would be the destroyer
B. We cannot do what God’s
called us to do in the Earth and be poor
1. Proverb 28:15, 22:7,
Deuteronomy 15:6-Poor people can be ruled over
2. Ecclesiastes 9:16-A poor
man’s voice is not heard
C. How is it going to help
any poor person for you to be poor?
1. The best thing you can do
for a poor guy is be rich
D. Jesus ministered alms to
the poor and it had a two-fold purpose: (Jn 13:27)
1. 1) It relieved them of
the pressure and ugliness of poverty
2. 2) It ministered seed to
the sower
E. Jesus preached the gospel
to the poor (Luke 4:18, 7:22)
1. The alms without the Word
won’t be enough
2. The guy at the gate in
Acts thought was blind to what he needed; he didn’t need silver or God he
needed to be able to walk
F. Your prosperity has
nothing to do with their poverty (John 11)
1. Why don’t we all our
stuff and give it to the poor?
2. What they don’t know from
the Word and what they are not doing from the Word is keeping them in lack
IV. One thing that is a
pattern of God throughout the Bible, nearly every time (with the exception some
divine intervention) there was somebody with a need, there was a man somewhere
in the Earth that God gave the answer to and that man had the answer for those
people.
A. God’s plan for his man
was to bless Him so that he could be a blessing
1. Blessed to be a blessing;
made rich to make rich

all this that I’ve blessed you with to serve Me and other men

b. I’m blessed and I’m here
to interrupt misfortune in people’s lives
c. God sent his man Joseph
to be the answer to the world’s problem
B. When Israel was in
trouble there was Moses, David, Gideon; When Egypt was in trouble there was
Joseph; When mankind was in trouble there was Jesus; When the Gentiles were in
trouble there was Paul; When Paul was in trouble there was Ananias;
1. Stop thinking of yourself
in terms of being the person who has the need and start seeing yourself as the
man God’s going to use to meet the need
a. I need to take the step
of faith, that step beyond human mental reasoning out into the faith world and
become the man who has the resources to meet the needs of people
2. I’m not the man in need,
I’m the man God works through to meet the need
a. You can either be the one
that’s praying for God to do something are the one that shows him answer to
their prayer

Be the man that God can
work through

5:17-We are kings who reign in this life
1. Proverbs 22:7-We can’t
reign living in lack and debt
B. Jeremiah 22:13-17
1. There’s more to being a
King and just being rich yourself
a. As a king you’re supposed
to use your prosperity, your power, your influence to help hurting people
2. To be the man meeting the
need is to know God by experience
a. This is the very
heartbeat of who God is to get people living in lack in abundance
C. John 10:31-35
1. gods-A person exercising
delegated power on behalf of a sovereign ruler; exercising delegate power in
the place of another; God’s representative
D. Psalm 82:1-6 (AMP)
1. We are to defend the poor
and the needy
2. We are divine ones,
rulers
3. Aries on divine ones,
rulers, govern and rule the Earth
4. We’re going to inherit
the Earth
