Balance & Place
FOUNDATION STATEMENT: We must give money its
proper place for it is a major key in us walking in a greater level of
financial prosperity.
I.
We need to have balance
and proper perspective where financial prosperity is concerned; if we don’t
give money its proper place we will have no balance
A. God is just, right, and
balanced-Psalm 119:137,75
1.
He’s
not out of balance in anyway; His perspective on finances is perfectly balanced
a. Psalm 119:75-His
judgments are right-what is
just, normal, or right; justness of weights and measuring
b. Psalm 119:137-God is righteous-just, correct, lawful
2.
Ephesians
5:2-We are to imitate him and be perfectly balanced like Him
a. If we are going to be
balanced where finances are concerned then we’re going to have to think like
Him
b. Balance doesn’t mean
compromise and balance doesn’t mean not extreme
1)
We
want to be balanced in God’s eyes not the world’s or religion’s eyes
2)
Extreme
abundant prosperity is just, right, and balanced in God’s eyes
3.
When
things are out of their place you’ll have no balance
B. In the Kingdom of God
everything has it’s proper place; When good things are out of the proper place
they can become non-profitable
1.
1
Corinthians 14:39-40-In order means in it’s proper place
a. 32-They’re prophesying,
speaking in tongues & interpreting but there’s confusion
b. 39-40-Don’t quit
prophesying & speaking in tongues, but keep them in their proper place-1
Corinthians 13:1-9
c. In the body of Christ
many things have been out of balanced and usually people want to throw
something out or that’s all they want to talk about; everybody’s thinks there
thing is the most important thing; wrong!
2.
Romans
9:26-There was a certain place that this was supposed to happen
3.
James
3:10-11-He’s talking about giving the mouth/words their proper place
a. 10-Words of blessing and
curse shouldn’t have the same place
b. 11-Bitter water and sweet
water are not to reside in the same place
c. The mouth and words mean whole
lot and that’s their proper place
4.
Ephesians
4:27-Satan’s proper place in your life is no place
C. Problems arise when (good
things) things are given their improper place
1.
1
Corinthians 14:32-33,39-40-Tongues and prophecy wasn’t the problem, it was the
place that they gave those things that was the problem
2.
Luke
14:16-23-Land is not the problem, oxen weren’t the problem, his wife wasn’t the
problem it was the place that these men gave these things that was the problem
3.
Luke
14:26-Family is not the problem, it’s the place that people give their family
that’s the problem
4.
Mark
10:17-Great riches wasn’t his problem, it was the place he gave it
a. He would’ve done that if
he wasn’t rich b/c it was a heart issue not a money issue
b. You’ll do the same with
the much as you will the least and vice versa
II. Money is not the problem; the problem is when money has an
improper place
A. Give money it’s proper
place; have balance
1.
Don’t
exalt it to an improperly high place
a. You’ll be led by it
(That’s the Holy Spirit’s place John 16:13)
b. You’ll obey it (That’s
God’s place Matt 6:24)
c. You’ll love it (That’s
God’s place and people’s place Matt 22:36)
d. You’ll trust it (That’s
God’s place 1 Timothy 6:17)
e. You’ll follow after it
and do whatever’s necessary to get more of it (That’s love’s place 1
Corinthians 14:1)
f. You’re out of position to
receive more (You’ll didn’t give it its proper place with the little you have
Luke 16:10)
2.
Don’t
lower it to an improperly low place
a. You won’t believe God for
more of it and you’ll want no part of it
b. You won’t reach your
potential in blessing people with it
1)
God’s
ready to give you more of it, but you don’t think it’s important
c. U won’t properly
represent the King you serve & the place from which u were sent
d. Your voice will not be
heard (Ecclesiastes 9:16, Mark 16:15)
e. There’s not a scripture
in this Bible that tells you to not have money or even to have a moderate
amount of money; all it talks about is having overflowing proportions of money
and things
1)
The
fact is money is a necessary tool to help people spirit, soul, body
2)
Money
in righteous hands will increase righteousness
3.
What’s
ironic is people give money an improperly low place with their words, but with
their actions exalt it to improperly high place-This is the worst place to be
because it’s self-deception
a. They say money doesn’t
mean anything to them, but they picked their job because it paid the most
b. They say they don’t want
any of the world’s goods, but they don’t tithe; or they tithe, but they’re not
givers
1)
They
don’t mind giving God what’s His, but they’d never dip into what’s theirs and
if they do they don’t dip very far
c. We have to be honest w/
ourselves about what place money has in our life
B. Don’t be in
self-deception in this area thinking that money is its proper place in your
life when it’s not
1.
Many
people say I’m willing to do whatever God tells me to do with all my money and
stuff, but they’re not willing to hear him when he speaks concerning their
money and possessions
a. You can say you’re
willing to do, but not be willing to hear
1)
They
say they’re willing while thinking God would never ask me do sow that; that’s
an unwillingness to hear
2)
EX:
I’m willing to hear empty your savings account. I’m willing to hear sow your favorite
suit.
b. The questions is not are
you willing to do what He ask of you, but are you willing to hear whatever He
has to say
2.
The
reality is this; the more properly placed money and things are in your life,
the more abundantly you’ll have money and things in your life. If money was a properly placed as we
thought, we’d have much more of it.
C. When you give money it’s
proper place you are perfectly positioned to receive an abundance of it and it
keeps you positioned to do what God tells you to do with it
1.
1
Kings 3:5-13-Did God want him to have riches and money? Apparently because he
gave it to him anyway
a. God wanted Solomon to
have money and things, but only under the condition that they had their proper
place-1 Kings 10:23, 2 Chronicles 1:15
2.
1
Kings 11:1-11-When God doesn’t have proper place in your life you will prosper
to the potential God wants you to
a. It’s not just important
that money have its proper place, but that God has His proper place
b. Solomon lost all that
prosperity because he allowed things to get out of place
3.
Hebrews
11:26-Moses had the right relationship with money and he prospered
a. When they left Egypt they
left with Egypt’s stuff; The Red Sea parted, they got water out of rock, bread
came from Heaven, they were in the wilderness and they lacked nothing, their
shoes and clothes didn’t wear out and God was wanting to take them to more
prosperous place that than, but they wouldn’t let him (Deuteronomy 8)
4.
If
you’ll give money its proper place in your life, then God will see to it that
money has its proper place in your life
