The Real Issue
I.
The real issue behind prosperity is the revelation of
God’s love & experiences with it-
A. Things God gives us, although they themselves will be
ashes someday, the imprint of His love that is left on your heart by receiving
that thing will be eternal-Matthew 7:7-11
1.
The thing itself is not the
issue, but rather it’s the experience with His love that is the issue; The
thing itself means nothing, it’s the experience with His love that has the
meaning
2.
I know God loves me, but these
gifts are tokens & reminders of how much he loves me & they leave an
imprint of His love in my heart & each 1 builds my faith-Rom 5:4
B. Gifts are not necessities, they are tokens of one’s love
for another
1.
Gift giving is the part of any
good functioning loving relationship
II.
Love in it’s highest form is not displayed in the meeting
of needs, but in the fulfilling of wants and desires-Love is really on display
when it takes interests in the trivial
A. If you being Evil-Bad
nature or condition know how to give good gifts to your children HOW MUCH MORE
shall your Father in Heaven give good to them that ask
III.
The person who gets the good things from God are those
that believe him for them
A. When you don’t ask you miss the opportunity to experience
his love & develop your faith
B. Many of us aren’t believing God for anything and it’s
hurting you cause it’s not about the things it’s about a revelation of his love
and an increase in your faith
IV.
One of the most disrespectful things you can do in a
loving relationship is reject a gift that somebody who loves you wants to give
you
A. Don’t ever stop someone from giving you a gift; it’s a
slap in the face, it’s a rejection of their love; Believers have done it to God
for years
B. Many believers by not (asking) or believing God for
anything is keeping God from doing more of this in their lives and he’s not
pleased about it-Psalm 35:27
C. People are calling it humility and holiness, but really
it’s passivity of faith
V.
There’s been a negative connation in the church for
asking God for something for yourself, a looking down upon, like you are
selfish and less spiritual
A. Is it okay to ask God for things for yourself that you
want?-Mark 11:24, John 15:7
B. Romans 8:32, Genesis 2:8-God’s wants you to have things
that you want
