You Have Authority

FOUNDATION STATEMENT: People are only afraid of that which they believe the are inferior to/don’t have power over; people are not afraid of that which they believe they are superior to and have power over 

 

I.      Fear and inferiority/no authority

A.    Satan likes to create the illusion that u have no authority/say where ur life is concerned

1.      That way of thinking will produce fear

a.      With no authority/no power/no say over anything there’s a lot you’re inferior to and therefore there’s a lot to fear

2.      Satan says, “Some things just happen” insinuating you have no say over your life

a.      God says “What you sow you will reap” - Things don’t just happen

b.      The sower has the authority/control/say over what he harvests

3.      Life is not a series of “random events” or “things just happening,” but it’s the result of the seeds you chose to sow

B.     You created to have authority, control, and say (Psalm 8:6, Romans 5:17)

1.      You don’t just got to do whatever you want, you only have the authority and power to carry out what God wants or His will

2.      Anything that tries to stop that will from coming to pass you have power and authority over

C.    Your authority lies is in the choices you make (Deuteronomy 30:19)

1.      Could you chose to live by faith, be a doer of the Word, be led of the spirit of God and be guaranteed a blessed, long, strong, victorious life?

2.      Could you chose to ignore God, not give Him time, not grow in his word and have some things happen to you that aren’t pleasant?

D.    Fear-A strong dose of respect for something that is life-threatening or dangerous

1.      If you respect the power of a thing more than you respect the power of God you’ll operate in fear

II.     Jesus delivered you from fear and he did it by giving you authority/say over your life

A.    In the beginning God gave Adam dominion over the whole Earth (Genesis 1:28)

1.      Adam didn’t have to fear anything in the Earth because he had authority over it and power over it

2.      When Adam sinned he forfeited that power into the hands Satan (Luke 4:5-7 (AMP)

a.      Fear ran ramped in the Earth because there was a devil running loose looking to steal, kill, and destroy that mankind didn’t have authority over him

3.      If a man would come into covenant w/ God and do what He said, he’d open to the door for God to come into his life and do things with His power that was greater than the power of the devil; but man himself didn’t have authority over the devil

a.      God never lost authority over the devil, man lost it

b.      That’s different than the NT because now we authority over the devil

4.      1 John 3:8-The power that Adam lost, Jesus came to get it back into the hands of believers

B.     Hebrews 2:14-15-Jesus Destroyed Satan

1.      Destroy-To deprive (take from) of force, influence, and power; put and end to; to render in operative, do away with, to cause a one to have no efficiency

2.      In depriving Satan of power, he delivered you from fear because you don’t have to fear something/someone that has no authority or power over you

a.      “And” is a conjunction that means it connects one thought to another

b.      There’s a connection between Jesus taking Satan’s power and you not having to fear anymore

C.    Colossians 2:15-Jesus stripped Satan and made a show of him openly

1.      Spoiled-Stripping the enemy of his weaponry and leaving him without any weapons with which to respond; stripping one to the point of complete nakedness.

2.      Show-To expose something; once the war was over the winner would return home displaying the treasures, trophies, weaponry, and captives that he had seized; this was a humiliating experience for the enemy

3.      Openly-He boldly, confidently, loudly, blatantly, and publicly exposed and displayed the defeated foe;

4.      Triumphing-The general who was returning home from a grand victory in the enemy’s territory.  A glorious triumphal parade.  The returning victor would lead the parade in on a white stallion and behind him bound in chains would be the defeated king/foe. In other words he would make a show of them openly. 

III.   You have authority now

A.    Your authority

1.      Matthew 28:18-All authority-There’s none left for the devil to have

2.      Philippians 2:9-11-You have authority that’s above every authority

a.      All names/authorities must bow to this authority

3.      Luke 10:17-19-Jesus said I give you authority over the power of devil

4.      John 16:33 (AMP)-You can be of good cheer/fear not because I have deprived the world of power to harm you

B.     What kind of authority and power do you have?

1.      Mark 4:40-Could you speak to a storm of hurricane proportions?

2.      Matthew 14-Could you speak to lack?

3.      John 11-Could you speak to a dead man?

4.      Mark 11:23-Could you speak to a mountain?

5.      You don’t have to fear cancer because you don’t have to die of cancer; you don’t have to fear tragedy because you don’t have to die in tragedy; you don’t fear lack because you don’t have to live in lack; you have a say and authority

6.      In the word of God is the power and authority of God to carry out that word

C.    Your words will transmit the anointing to your problem

1.      Mark 4:40-The anointing that stopped the storm was released through words

2.      The power working in and through the words is the anointing and faith activates it

a.      People speak words that are void of faith and that’s why they see no impact

b.      When you get full of faith and speak the anointing is in those words and will move the mountain

3.      Psalm 91-When fear tries to rise up and Satan’s saying it’s going to happen to you, it’s going to happen to you, could you roar back a thousand may fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand, but it will not come near me and would there be power in those words to keep it from happening to you?

IV.   Fear not only comes from believing you’re inferior, but fear will actually make you inferior to things you’re superior to

A.    Matthew 14:24-Peter was not inferior, but fear made him inferior

B.     2 Timothy 1:7-The spirit of fear is a powerless spirit

1.      When you operate in fear you become inferior and powerless against the onslaught of the devil

C.    Ephesians 1:19,2:6-Even though you far above all oppression when you begin to operate in fear, fear works like an elevator in that it takes you down to the place where you’re inferior to the enemy and oppressed/overpowered by him
