Where Faith Lives - Part 2
I.
Faith carries the
attitude of joy and peace (Rom 15:13, 2 Pet 1:8)
A. If there’s joy and peace in believing, depression and worry are
in unbelief
1. People in faith have joy-Brighten up, leap, and spin around
a. If you’re discouraged
you’re not in faith
2. People in faith have peace-The tranquil state of a soul assured
a. If you’re stressed and
worried you’re not in faith
b. You’re soul can’t be
assured without significant time spent in the Word
c. What are you to be
assured of? That you believe you have received it
B. Line your attitude up
with what you say you believe-No lip
service faith
1. I’m not just a flaky
Christian; this is my faith act in the middle of pressure
C. Joy and peace are not
feelings and you can walk in joy with no feelings of joy, you can walk in peace
with no feelings of peace; the way you can walk in love with no feelings of
love
II. Learning to despise your problem is key in keeping an
attitude of joy and peace
A. Numbers 13:32-33,14:9-They
exalted the problem Joshua & Caleb despised it
B. 1 Samuel 17-You got
people exalting the problem vs. one despising it
1. 24-25-David was in joy
and peace
2. 25-26-They exalted the
giant, David despised him
3. 25-30-David had to hear
his reward threes time; to him this was too easy
4. 28-Your faith will be
mistaken for arrogance by ignorant people
5. 33-Saul exalts the
problem
6. 34-David despises him by
putting him in a category with things He’s whipped
7. 42-44-Goliath despised
David; he learned not to judge a book by its cover
8. 46-48-A soul assured; he
ran towards Goliath
C. Make light of the
problem; Honey I know its hard, you’re going through right now and it’s tough;
Jesus didn’t say honey my yoke is hard and my burden is heavy, but just hold on
tight
III. Your attitude is one of the greatest
ways you prove, reveal & release your faith
A. Why do I have joy and
peace in the middle of pressure? Because I believe that I have received. You prove, reveal, and release your
faith about that through your attitude.
1. Prove that you believe by keeping an attitude of joy and peace
2. Your attitude will reveal/expose what you really believe
3. Release faith at your situation by keeping an attitude of joy and
peace
B. Job
5:22-Learn to despise your mountain; this is nothing for God
1. 19-As many troubles that
come is a many as He’ll deliver you from
2. 20-He’ll redeem you from
lack and destruction
3. 21-You’ll be hardened to
the whip of the tongue
4. 22-Laugh mockingly at
destruction and famine (Psalm 2:4)
5. 24-You’re laughing in joy
and peace because you know the end (Ps 37:13)
6. 26-You will live a long
good life and go to the grave strong and robust
C. Daniel
3:16-We are not careful to answer you in this matter
1. He will deliver us-A soul
assured-They have peace because they know the end
a. They’re
staring the fiery furnace in the face and are full of peace
2. 19-Why’s he so full of
fury? It was their attitude in not bowing
3. 28-With trust there’s
peace and no care
D. John
8:6-Staying calm and cool under pressure through the spirit of doodle
1. He’s not going to worry
or discourage his way into the answer (Matthew 6:27)
E. John
11:1-3-Jesus
loved Lazarus
1. 4-6-He
knows the end and stayed in the same place two days (Isaiah 28:16)
2. 9-10-Jesus’
faith attitude
3. 11-15-Jesus’
faith talk that they don’t understand
4. 39-43-Doubting
Martha
F. Acts
12:1-Peter’s about to be executed and he’s sleeping; faith snoring (Ps 127:2)
G. Mark
4:35-41-Their fearful attitude proved, revealed and released
unbelief
1. 37-38-Do you think he
might have heard some of this storm going on? Probably, but he’s already spoken
it, He’s going to the other side; he knows the end
2. 40-Jesus
called coming to Him in fear, no faith
a. Before
you cry out to God because of some thing you saw in the OT, you’d better
realize they cried out and Jesus called it no faith (Heb
4)
H. Mark
5:22-He said a lot by saying nothing; you can say a lot with a few words
1. All
His silence is saying something; 1) The woman with the issue of blood 2) The
one from his house 3) His crying relatives 4) His dead daughter
IV. What are you proving, revealing & releasing with
your attitude?
A. Your
attitude can say something in unbelief without you opening your mouth.
1. Your
attitude might not have a mouth, but it
does have a voice
2. Just
because you’re not speaking words doesn’t mean that you’re not saying something
3. The
confession of your attitude speaks as loud and is as powerful as the confession
you make with your mouth
4. When
you choose to be discouraged, depressed, and worrisome you are making confessions
with your attitude that you don’t believe the Word
B. Don’t
let the enemy see you sweat; no sweat; the “Andy Griffith anointing”
1. All hell might be
breaking loose, but when you’re faith you know the end
2. Be hardened to negative
circumstances and evil reports (Isaiah 51:7,53:12)
V. Understanding your role is key to living in the “joy and
peace of faith”
A. Faith
isn’t lazy; It labors to enter into a care-free place of joy & peace (Heb 4:3,10)
1. Faith
is busy working to enter into that fully persuaded, assured soul, rest
a. Labor-Exert yourself,
give all diligence, earnestness, endeavor
b. Rest-Calming of winds,
still, quiet place
2. This is the work of faith that most
people aren’t willing to do
a. Faith
is living in the word, confessing, casting down thoughts, walking in love
3. Make
the connection between your inability to rest and your love walk
B. Luke 8:50-Understand your
role; It’s not your job to make this thing manifest; I have a part to play and
if I don’t play my part it will not manifest
1. The result has already
been predetermined that if you’ll do the fearing not and the believing only,
she WILL be made whole
2. The she will be made
whole is not my part, my part the fearing not & believing only
3. My job is to apply the
principles that put the law into motion; not make the law work
C. Who’s working for you
while you fear not and believe only and rest in love and faith
1. The Word will do the work
(Rom 1:16, Gen 18:14, Is 55:11)
2. Faith is will work to
manifest your victory (Luke 17:6-9)
3. The blessing will do the
work to make you rich (Proverbs 10:22)
4. The angels will do the
work (Heb 1:14, Ps 103:20)
5. The Holy Spirit moved
upon the face of the waters and when God spoke he worked to bring what God
spoke to pass (Genesis 1:2)
6. The Apostle and High
Priest of your confession of faith (Hebrews 3:1)
