The Kingdom Mentality
FOUNDATION STATEMENT: The Kingdom of God mentality is a mentality that is based out
of our spirit and not our flesh.
It’s a mentality that says all things are possible to him that believes.
– Mark
1:14-15
I.
The carnal mind will try
to keep you from the results that the Kingdom of God can produce
A. The Kingdom of God is a
mystery (Mark 4:11)
1.
A
mystery is something that is not humanly comprehendible
a.
Something
that doesn’t make sense to the natural mind
b.
It
doesn’t make sense because we are talking about things be accomplished that are
naturally “impossible”
2.
It
doesn’t make sense to the natural mind how:
a.
A
person missing an arm can get an arm
b.
A
250,000 debt getting paid off in a month
B.
Immediately
when you start talking about the Kingdom of God and the results that it
produces the carnal mind will try to fight it (Rom 8:5-7)
1.
The
carnal mind fights this because the gospel is extreme
a.
The
gospel guarantees success; it’s leaves nothing to chance
1)
It
says no evil shall befall neither shall any plague come near your dwelling
2)
It
says 1000 may fall at my side and 10000 at my right had, but it will not come
near me
2.
The
carnal man looks at the scriptures, but his experiences in the world have built
unbelief in his heart and keep him from believing and receiving the gospel
a.
The
carnal man looks at the Bible but because of the experiences that he’s had in
his life, he forms his own doctrines, not by what the word says, but by what
his experiences say
b.
His
mind’s fighting against the Kingdom; the Kingdom’s trying to get him 100 fold,
but he doesn’t believe that money is for the church
1)
Until
you purposely renew your mind to this Kingdom, then you’re going to be against
the very system that has been designed to see to it that succeed
3.
You
look at the situation minding the flesh or from a carnal standpoint. You look at the situation as a
natural/flesh man trying to accomplish a task.
a.
You
are a spirit and you’re supposed to be operating out of your spirit
1)
Your
spirit is big, it was created in the image of God
2)
Your
flesh is limited your spirit is not
b.
You
are not natural having a spiritual experience, you are spiritual having a
natural experience
1)
You’re
looking at the situation from the standpoint of your flesh, but God didn’t call
your flesh and you aren’t supposed to be operating out of your flesh
C. When you’re carnal you
walk as mere men or according to man (1 Corinthians 3:1-3)
1.
God
doesn’t want mere men; he’s looking for men who will work his system and be
supermen who do supernatural things
a.
That
carnal way of thinking is trying to keep us from accomplishing the “impossible”
2.
When
you think carnally you come down to the level of natural man and it keeps you
from walking in your true Kingdom potential
D. Numbers 13
1.
Joshua
and Caleb simply spoke the word (Exodus 33:1)
a.
The
COI couldn’t see how that was going to happen – to them it was impossible
1)
Their
thinking was carnal & it was keeping them from the results God wanted
2)
It
was impossible to them because of the outside
b.
When
the Word was preached it didn’t agree with what was naturally reasonable and
now people got mad and wanted to stone them
1)
Romans
10:8-17-If the impossible is not preached, then the impossible will not be
accomplished
a)
What
the church has been preaching is something that is acceptable to the flesh or
the carnal mind – That’s not what you’re supposed to be hearing
b)
Consequently
the church has been walking like mere men
2)
When
the Children of Israel rejected the words that were preached the rejected the
opportunity to go into the promise land
a)
All
because they couldn’t see how in their minds
2.
They
were looking for something that they could do in their own ability, instead of
looking for something that they could do in God’s ability
a.
Stop
looking for something that a natural man can do, and start looking for
something that the power of God can do – The Kingdom of God has no limits
b.
With
God all things are possible (Luke 18:27, Mark 10:27)
1)
God’s
with us so we must stop thinking inside of ourselves and start thinking inside
of God
3.
Work
the Kingdom of God, be quiet and rest (Mark 4:26)
a.
You
don’t have to know how
1)
This
Farmer didn’t know how it was going to happen, he just engaged in the system
2)
The
Kingdom of God is in me and it rules over all (Luke 17:21)
a)
The
Kingdom of God is going to take me above time, space, and matter
b.
Isaiah
7 – Pay attention, be quiet, fear not and don’t be a chicken
II.
We have to renew our
minds to the Kingdom of God system
A. We’ve been translated out
of that old system and that old way of doing things and been translated into
the Kingdom of God system and it’s way of doing things (Colossians 1:12-13)
1.
God
took you out of the world’s system, but now we got to get the world out of you
B.
Don’t
conform to this world’s system (Romans 12:1-3)
1.
Don’t
allow yourself to be shaped by the world’s failing and faulty system
a.
You
go to make a decision that you’ve left that system and you aren’t operating
like that any more
2.
You
are transformed by renewing your mind to the Kingdom of God system
a.
The
renewing of the mind to the Kingdom of God system starts by hearing the gospel
of the Kingdom
1)
The
Gospel of Christ – Is the preaching about Jesus came to Earth, died, bore
or sins, was raised from the dead and when you receive as Lord you get saved
2)
The
Gospel of the Kingdom – Is the preaching about working God’s system on
the Earth, living above the system of the world, & living in victory on the
Earth
C. Change the way that you
think b/c the Kingdom of God system is at hand-Mark 1:14
1.
Repent
– Have another mind, change the way that you think
2.
Change
the way that you think because there’s a new system at hand now and we aren’t
doing things the way we used to do them.
III.
My thoughts are not your
thoughts neither or my ways your ways (Isaiah 55:11)
A. Jesus took us out of the
world; now we need to get the world out of us.
1.
The
more truth we receive and act on, the more separate we will become from the
world and the more “natural” it will be to us. (John 17:17)
a.
As
you hear the word of God and sow the word of God into your heart, that word
will begin to separate you from the world or push the world out of you
2.
The
reason that we’ve seen the world outside in your thoughts, words, and actions
is because you have the world inside in your heart
a.
We
change the inside by constantly hearing the truth of God’s word
b.
That
word will begin to build a new image on the inside & push the old image out
c.
I
am putting this word in me at an extreme and radical rate because I HAVE to get
the world out of me so that I can see the KOG produce through me
