Who Are You?

I.   You are the righteousness of God

A. What does it mean to be the righteousness of God-2 Corinthians 5:21

1.  Righteous-Acceptable to God, approved of God, innocent, faultless, guiltless; a just person who has been declared righteous; In your relation with God and you walk before him you are right; state of being right; to be on good terms

a. Justification-Made right; Removing from the believer his guilt and bestowing a positive righteousness; Standing innocent and uncondemned and actually righteous in the point of law

b. God is the judge, man the defendant, Jesus is your substitution and advocate.  You were guilty, but Jesus said I’ll pay the price for what they did and God deemed him guilty of what you did and you righteous.  God looked at you and said not guilty. 

2.  God loves you, but when the way that you are isn’t the way He is, He doesn’t like it nor does He accept it

B. The Believers sin; In the eyes of Heaven you haven’t missed it

1.  Isaiah 61:10-You wear a rob of righteousness

2.  1 John 1:9-When you confessed the sin, it was stricken from the record

a. Jesus is faithful and just

b. He not only forgave you, he erased all evidence that you ever did it

3.  Isaiah 43:25-26-He blotted your sin out for his own sake

a. Put him in remembrance of this; not how unrighteous you feel you are

b. Hebrews 8:12-He has forgotten my mistakes

4.  Colossians 2:14-Jesus didn’t just pay the price for your sin, he erased all evidence that you ever committed any wrong

a. Romans 6:23-That price has to be paid and blood has to be shed

b. Romans 4:4-5-Right-standing with God has been credited to my account

5.  2 Corinthians 7:2-The Apostle Paul said we have wronged no man

6.  Hebrews 10:1-4-My conscience has been purged and I have no guilt, condemnation, or sense of inferiority; I stand before God as though sin never existed

II. You are holy

A. Holy Scriptures

1.  Ephesians 1:4-He chose for us to be holy

2.  Colossians 1:20-22-Jesus has presented me to the Father holy

3.  1 Peter 2:9-You ARE a holy nation

a. Peculiar-You belong to him and therefore are holy and special

4.  Hebrews 3:1-Holy Brethren

B. Holy-Pure from every fault, clean, sacred

1.  What is sacred and special in the eyes of God

2.  Set apart for God, exclusively his

a. Don’t call something of God’s unholy; if it’s His it’s holy

3.  Prepared for God with a serious procedure, pure, clean

a. Jesus prepared you for the Father by the cleansing of His blood so that he could present you holy, pure, clean, and sacred

4.  You are holy by God’s grace and God sees you as such through the blood, while you are in the process of walking in holiness he already sees you as holy

a. Too many wait to believe they are something until they can see themselves being it; however if you’re ever going to be it you’re going to have to believe you are it before you can see yourself being it

C.You created in God’s class

1.  Holiness expresses something more than being sacred, worthy, honorable, pure, and free from defilement. Holiness is more comprehensive.  It is godlikeness.

a. Ephesians 4:24-You’re created in God’s image

2.  2 Corinthians 5:17-You are his sent ones

a. You can’t be unholy and represent He who is Holy

3.  Ephesians 5:1-You are to imitate him

a. Who are you to act like Jesus?

b. John 14:12-You’re to do the works Jesus did and greater than those

4.  John 10:31-35-You are gods, not in the sense that you are to be worshipped and praised, but in the sense that you are to be the God’s chosen representatives in the Earth, through whom his power can flow

a. Jesus did what he did as a man anointed by God with the Holy Ghost and power; he didn’t do those things as God

D. You not some second class citizen of heaven

1.  It’s not God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit and then little old me; I’m part of the team and in the family  

a. You are bone of his bone, flesh of his flesh, spirit of His spirit (Eph 5:30, 1 Co 6:17)

b. The blood of almighty God flows through your spiritual veins

2.  Ephesians 2:2-19

a. 2,3-Your inheritance comes from the family that you’re in

1)   With your father being the devil your inheritance was God’s wrath

b. 5-The same life-force zoe that raised Jesus from the dead is in of you-Eph 1:19

c. 6-You sit together with him in Heavenly places-Ephesians 1:21-Joint-Seating

d. 10-He’s prepared the good life for you

e. 11-12-Remember you were a spiritual orphan, with no hope, future, or plan

1)   You’ve been adopted into God’s family; you’re a joint-heir w/ Jesus-Rom 8:14

f.   19-You are not someone who doesn’t belong; you belong to the family of God, you are kin to God, you are related by blood

3.  When I come to God I come boldly and courageously (Hebrews 4:16)

a. Genesis 3:14-A worm I the dust is not place for the son of king to be

III.            You are worthy

A. 1 Peter 1:18-19-You must be worthy if Jesus spilled is blood for you

1.  You must be worth something God was willing to give his best for you

B. Romans 5:7-10-To Jesus you were worth it

1.  It makes sense to the natural to think about a person dying for a righteous person and for a good man some would even dare to die and we could understand that, but Jesus died for an unrighteous, unholy, unclean, impure, wicked man

2.  God likes a project and he’s in the business of restoration (Psalm 23:5)

a. EX: A guy that buys old cars spends a lot of money on a junky old car that doesn’t even work.  He pays the great price because he doesn’t see the car as it is, he sees it as what it’s going to be. 

b. When you were a sinner and God gave Jesus for you, he didn’t see you as what you were, he saw you as what you were going to be and determined in his mind that you were worth the blood. 

1)   Isaiah 46:10-God sees the end from the beginning

c. When God bought you was thinking to himself we’re going fill him with the spirit, give him the Word, and shine him up in love and faith and we’ll fellowship together he live the good life and do what I’ve called him to do.

3.  Isaiah 53:10-It pleased the Lord to bruise him because you were worth it

C.For you to say you weren’t worth it is to say you know better than God and it’s to say that God mishandled and despised the precious blood of Jesus

1.  In the eyes of God you’re precious, your valuable, and your worth it

2.  I can’t raise my self-esteem until I find out how God esteems me and when I find out how God esteems me my self-esteem will rise

A.IV.            You are Redeemed (Galatians 3:13)

A. Redeemed-Buyer or redeemer who has gone to the slave market to purchase a slave for the sole purpose of bringing them out of that place of slavery so he can be set free; permanent removal from captivity; Jesus’ death didn’t only pay the penalty for our sin, it removed us from living under the curse, to redeem by payment of a price, to recover from the power of another, to ransom, buy off

1.  “RE” takes you back somewhere; Man was deemed free in the Garden, Adam sinned and man was deemed in bondage, Jesus came take us back-1 John 3:8

2.  The great exchange/The grace faith exchange: He redeemed us from the curse, by being made a curse for us; Anything that you are redeemed from, you’re redeemed from because it was put on him and he bore it for you

a. He was made a curse so you can have the blessing (Galatians 3:13-14)

b. He become sin, so that you could be made righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21)

c. He took your sickness and disease so that you could be healed (Mt 8:17, 1 Pt 2:24)

d. He become poor so that you could be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9)

3.  These are redemptive rights that Jesus rightfully paid for and legally gave to me and now they are rightfully mine and I have the title deed to the called His Word (1 Pet 1:18-19)

a. That what make Satan and oppressive thief (John 10:10)

B. What exactly are you redeemed from? You’ve been redeemed (bought out) from everything that came on the Earth through Adam’s sin by Jesus’ blood (Deuteronomy 28:15)

1.  God will allow what you will allow

a. 20-The Lord shall send cursing; 45-God will allow it, but people cause it

1)   Proverbs 26:2, Deuteronomy 28:15, 1-2-The curse causeless won’t come

b. The curse is still here and it’s available for people to walk in it. Jesus didn’t take the curse out of the world, he redeemed you from the curse that’s here-John 17:15

1)   EX: When it’s raining you have an umbrella. You’re redeemed from the rain through your umbrella; you can have an umbrella, walk out from it & get wet. 

2)   The Word is my shield (Psalm 91)

2.  What about Job?

a. Satan’s couldn’t touch Job because his obedience built a hedge of protection (1:10)

b. Job operated in fear/disobedience, that hedge came down and destruction came

C.Four things that keep you from living redeemed

1.  Let the redeemed of the Lord say so (Psalm 107:2, Num 14:28, Mark 11:23, James 3)

2.  Limited cursed thinking (Psalm 78, Proverbs 23:7, 3 John 2)

3.  A failure to resist the curse (James 4:7)

4.  Opening the door to the curse (Isaiah 54:14, Matthew 14:24)

D. These two phrases aren’t in the Bible

1.  You just never know

2.  Some things just happen

3.  Satan majors on robbing you of certainty b/c it keeps you from receiving (James 1:8)
