What You Say Matters

Foundation Statement: Your words carry so much weight in your life that they could keep what God spoke over your life from coming to pass

I.      Just b/c something is God’s will for a person’s life doesn’t mean that it will come to pass

A.    2 Peter 3:9-God’s will is that no man perish, but for that to happen, He needs the man to believe what He told them to believe & speak what he told them to speak

1.     People perish because they chose to not believe and speak the thing necessary to receive Jesus as their Lord

B.     Just because God spoke it over your life doesn’t mean it’s going to come to pass

1.     Gods has an overall/corporate will for the Earth, for mankind and those things will happen; but His will coming to pass in your life is not a certain thing

2.     The same way the unsaved man resists his will to be saved by not believing and speaking, people resist Gods’ will to be healed, blessed, protected by not believing and speaking

3.     By believing and speaking against the will of God for your life, you resist the will of God for your life

II.     The manifestation of God’s will in your life is significantly effected by what you say; you can effect the plan of God for your life with the Words of your mouth

A.    Luke 1:11-20, Isaiah 40:3-God has a plan to have John the Baptist be birthed into the Earth and prepare the way for Jesus

1.     He told Zacharias and he said, how do I know that’s going to happen?

a.      That’s unbelief; when the angel of the Lord says it, that should be enough

b.      He questions IF; Questioning IF questions the integrity of the one speaking

2.     18-You can tell what’s in his heart, by what’s coming out of his mouth

a.      He’s not talking about how good & big his God is, he’s talking the problem

3.     6-Zacharias knows better; He’s probably heard the story of Abraham and Sarah bunches of times; In fact he’s a by-product of that miracle

4.     20-You’re not going to be able to talk and this is why; because you don’t believe my words and if you don’t believe them you believe something else and if you believe something else and speak it, it will come to pass in your life; and my words will be completed at the right time

a.      These words needed to come to pass and they were on a schedule here

b.      Zacharias’ words could have kept this plan from coming to pass

B.     Luke 1:30

1.     34-Mary’s questioned how it was going to happen

2.     38-Didn’t have to close Mary’s mouth b/c it’s in line with the will of God

a.      She said BE IT unto me according to your word

C.    God has a plan for your life, but you have to change the way you talk if that plan is going to come to pass

1.     Genesis 15:5-His plan for Abram was for him to be the Father of many nations

2.     Genesis 17:5-He told Abraham to call himself the Father of many nations

a.      If Abraham walks around talking like this isn’t going to happen it will keep it from happening so God changes his speech

3.     Romans 4:17-Abraham called it & spoke in line with it & that plan came to pass

D.    God can say it, but if you want it to come to pass in your life, you have to say the same thing that God is saying (Romans 10:8)

III.   Where God’s word coming to pass in your life is concerned, what you say is as important as what He says

A.    Exodus 3:8, 33:1-2, Numbers 13:2-God has a plan to take them into the promise land

1.     27-29-It’s God’s will to drive them out, but they’re talking/rebelling against it

a.      31-14:4-They spoke against the plan of God and it’s cost them

2.     14:28-The persisted in what they said, instead of persisting in what God said and they got what they said

a.      34-They hindered/restrained God’s Word w/ their words-Breach of Promise

b.      God’s promised can be breached because of what you say

c.      Dying in the wilderness was not his plan

3.     13:30, 14:8-9-Joshua & Caleb persisted in saying what God said and they got it

a.      If you’ll get your mouth right & persist no man, situation, or circumstance will be able to keep God’s good plan from coming to pass in your life (a whole generation of unbelieving people couldn’t keep them out)

B.     God has a good life prepared for people who are rebelling against it with their mouth (Eph 2:10)

1.     When you talk in opposition to the will of God, you are rebelling against it

a.      God’s will is good, & people are rebelling against good b/c of their mouths

B.     People see their words as a small insignificant thing; small things can be a big deal

2.     4-A rudder is small compared to that big ship, but we can control that ship even in fierce winds if he can get a hold of the rudder

3.     5-A spark is a small thing, that can start a real big fire

C.    6-The tongue sets on fire the sphere of this earthly life & all that is contained in it

1.     Your words affect your world

D.    The steering wheel of your life

1.     Wherever the bit goes the horse goes; wherever the rudder goes the ship goes; wherever your mouth goes you go

2.     EX: If you’re steering wheel was turned away from church all the time you’d never have gotten here; if you’re mouth is turning away from the destination you want to reach you’ll never get there

a.      EX: The lady with cancer who couldn’t hold food down

3.     People want to talk what is, and end up somewhere else but that just leads to them staying where they is

1.     You can go somewhere different until you say something different; you won’t say something different until you sow something different

F.     If Satan can’t gain control over ur mouth, He can’t gain control in ur life-1 Sam 17, Dan
