Slain By The Jawbone Of An Ass

I.      Slain by the jawbone of an ass-Judges 15:14-16

A.    Fool-Stupid fellow, dullard, simpleton, lacks understanding, acts contrary to wisdom

1.     12:15-Thinks his way is right (in his own eyes)---12:16-He’s mad and people know it --- 14:3-Pride is in their mouth --- 15:2-Mouth pours out foolishness --- 15:5-Won’t receive instruction --- 15:14-Feed on foolishness --- 18:2-Has no delight in understanding --- 18:6-Is always in strife and contention --- 22:15-It’s in the heart of a child --- 23:9-Despises wisdom --- 26:11-Returns to his folly --- 28:26-Trust in his own heart --- 29:11-Speaks all that’s on his mind

B.     Fools are destroyed their own words; not by the devil

1.     Proverbs 18:7-CEV-Saying foolish things is like setting a trap to destroy yourself

2.     Ecclesiastes 10:12-GW-A fool’s lips are self-destructive

II.     The Mouth-Life Connection-What u have in life is connected to what you’ve been saying

A.    Mark 11:23-There’s a connection between what a man has and what a man says

1.     Doubting keeps this from working (If you say you’re healed, but are unsure if it will manifest it won’t)

2.     Matthew 21:21-Jesus said we could do this

B.     Matthew 12:33-37-What a man believes is what he will say and what he says is what he will have

1.     33-The tree represents what you believe (Proverbs 23:7)

2.     34-What you say is the result of what you believe (2 Corinthians 4:13)

3.     35-If you put something good in your heart, you’ll believe it, say it out your mouth, and have it

a.      You’re bringing forth in life based on what’s in your heart and what’s coming out your mouth

4.     To get different fruit he addresses the tree; focus on the tree & make it good

a.      We’re too fruit oriented: Change what you’re believing and speaking and the fruit will change

b.      You’re wanting to get different results and he’s saying change what you’re believing and speaking

C.    The importance of loading your heart; You have to load your heart

1.     This hasn’t worked 4 people b/c they haven’t taken the time 2 load their heart

2.     Speaking words to change things, without loading your heart with the Word of God, is like grabbing a handful of bullets and throwing them at something and then being surprised it didn’t work the way a gun does

3.     The way u load a gun w/ bullets is the way u have 2 load ur heart w/ the Word

III.   Your words carry so much weight in your life that they could keep what God spoke over your life from coming to pass

A.    2 Peter 3:9-It’s not God’s will or plan any man perish; but people perish because they refuse to believe and speak the thing necessary to make Jesus their Lord

1.     God has a corporate will for this Earth, for mankind & those things will come to pass no matter what; but His will coming to pass in your life is no certain thing

B.     The manifestation of God’s plan in your life is effected by what you say

1.     Luke 1:11-20-God shut his mouth b/c he didn’t believe His Words and if he didn’t believe his words, he would speak against them and keep them from coming to pass in his life

a.      If it didn’t matter what he said, shutting his mouth wasn’t necessary

b.      A man’s words could have effected God’s Words

2.     Ex 3:8, 33:1-2, Num 13:2-God’s plan was to take them into the prosperous land      

a.      14:28-Dying in the wilderness was not God’s plan; but they kept persisting in saying the wrong thing

b.      14:34-What they said hindered/effected what God said

c.      14:31-People are unknowingly resisting the will of God for their lives by believing and speaking in opposition to it

d.      Josh 14:6-If you’ll get your mouth right no man, situation, or circumstance will be able to keep God’s good plan from coming to pass in your life

C.    God has a good life prepared for us; people are rebelling against w/ their mouths

1.     Eph 2:10-For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

2.     Psalm 34:10-If you want to live the good life, then watch your mouth

D.    God has said it, but you have to say it (Romans 10:8)

1.     Concerning your life, what you say is as significant as what He says

2.     What you’re not saying with your mouth will not come to pass in your life

a.      Most people’s problem is they’re saying nothing

IV.   Your mouth is the steering wheel of your life

A.    James 3:1-6-Your life is going in the direction your words are taking it

1.     Wherever the bit goes the horse goes, wherever the rudder goes the ship goes, wherever your tongues goes your life goes

2.     If you steer away from where you want to go, you’ll never get there

B.     Romans 4:17-We call things that be not as though they are b/c we want to get away from what be and get to what be not

1.     Luke 13:8-He didn’t say oh sweetie I know it must be hard… --- You are loosed

2.     People are calling what is and talking what is and they’re just circling what is

C.    If Satan can’t control your mouth, he can’t control your life

1.     In the passenger seat you have no control

2.     God is in control: Sorry NO --- if you’re saying what he says, then yes

3.     Satan wants to get the wrong words in you through circumstances b/c you will say them out your mouth and they will come to pass and he’s in control (Mark 4:24, Proverbs 4:23)

V.    Hold fast to saying the same thing God says (Hebrews 4:14-16,10:23)

A.    Hebrews 10:23-Hold fast to your confession of faith w/o being moved

B.     Hebrews 4:14-16

1.     14-Hold fast to saying what I said (People want to talk the problem, feelings)

2.     16-Persist in your confession of faith and come boldly to his throne without wavering and you’ll find grace
