Made Righteous

I.      2 Corinthians 5:17-21-You’ve been made the righteousness of God

A.    The old spiritual condition has passed away

1.      That unrighteous sinner condition is gone forever

B.     This new condition that we find ourselves in is unprecedented

1.      It’s unprecedented that a man who as sinned can be made new and stand before God as though sin never existed

C.    We’ve been brought back into union and friendship with Him

D.    He’s not counting up our trespasses and sin, but rather cancelled them

E.     This is why you can be reconciled: because he to be sin for us so that we could be MADE the righteousness of God in him

1.      You can be reconciled unto him because you can be made right with Him

2.      You don’t become righteous; when you got saved you were made righteous

II.     2 Corinthians 5:21-You were made righteous with Jesus’ first class righteousness

A.    We don’t have some second class righteousness-Romans 3:25-26, 1 Corinthians 1:30

1.      I am as accepted, innocent, faultless, and guiltless before God as Jesus is-1John 4:17

2.      Rom 8:17-I’m a joint-heir with Jesus and I have the same rights in the presences of God that he does because I’ve been made right with his righteousness

3.      I have as a much right to be in the presence of God as Jesus does; I have as much right to ask God something and get answer, to communicated with him as Jesus does; I have as much right to healing, prosperity, deliverance as he does

B.     Jesus became unacceptable, guilty, and at fault in the eyes of God so that you and I could stand in his presence accepted, guiltless, and faultless

1.      He forfeited all his rights of covenant so that you could experience yours

2.      God forsook him, turned his back on him because sin made him unacceptable and he became unacceptable so that you could be accepted

C.    Possess this righteousness and own it like its yours; Jesus gave it to you as a gift-Rom 5:17

1.      If you get new car you that somebody gives you, you don’t say my car is as filthy rags, b/c that old car isn’t yours anymore; possess your righteousness that way

2.      Isaiah 64:5-6-My righteousness is no longer of filthy rags because his righteousness is now my righteousness

III.   Colossians 1:20-22-A major part of Jesus’ high priestly ministry was to put you back in right-standing with God, presenting you faultless before God

A.    Guilt and condemnation destroy fellowship and intimacy with God; one of the major purposes of guilt is to drive you away from God and intimacy with Him

1.      The blood establishes harmony between God and man again b/c it puts man in right-standing with God and that right-standing that we have with God by the blood enables us to approach God and fellowship with God as though sin never existed

2.      Alienated-You were shut out from God’s intimacy by your wicked works, but those works are gone now because of the power of the blood and therefore intimacy with God has been reestablished

3.      Reconcile-Bringing back a former state of harmony; The former state of harmony was the Garden of Eden where man approached God with no consciousness of sin and as though sin never existed because it never did

B.     Jesus has presented you before the Father as a faultless being who cannot be accused of sin

1.      Unreproveable-You can’t even be called into account regarding your sin

a.    They enemy has no right to accuse you of sin once it’s been forgiven by blood

b.    You are in a position where you can never be accused of forgiven sin

2.      That was part of Jesus’ calling and assignment and you have to have faith that he did his job; to say that you’re not unblameable and unreproveable is to say that Jesus didn’t do his job; let me remind you Heb 4 said you have a great high priest

C.    Colossians 1:22-Versions 

1.      ERV-But now he has made you his friends again. He did this by the death Christ suffered while he was in his body. He did it so that he could present you to himself as people who are holy, blameless, and without anything that would make you guilty before him.

2.      NCV-But now God has made you his friends again. He did this through Christ's death in the body so that he might bring you into God's presence as people who are holy, with no wrong, and with nothing of which God can judge you guilty

3.      NIRV-So now you don't have any flaw. You are free from blame

4.      NIV1984-To present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation

5.      NLT-As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy & blameless as you stand before him without a single fault

6.      WE-Christ will bring you before God holy, clean, and good

IV.   Submit to the righteousness of God-Romans 10:1-4

A.    They don’t know and they don’t understand what makes one right before God

1.      They try to set up their own righteousness through works

B.     You have to on purpose submit to the righteousness of God

1.      When you’re yielding to guilt and condemnation you’re trying to set up your own righteousness by what you do and don’t do rather than submitting to the righteousness of God which says you’re righteous by faith

2.      You’re walking around feeling guilty b/c of what you DID rather than submitting to the righteousness of God b/c of what Jesus DID and receiving it by faith

C.    Submission is putting yourself under the authority of what the master says and it always brings tremendous results-Matthew 8, 15:26

1.      If you say I’m righteous then I am and how I feel about makes no difference

V.    Establish yourself in righteousness-Isaiah 54:14

A.    To be established in righteousness means that you’re firm and stable in the fact that you are the righteousness of God, you are certain about it, steadfast in it and not only that but it’s right up on the forefront of your mind, your conscious of it

B.     The righteousness of God is our starting point; (Ex: Established 1995)

1.      In this New Covenant our starting point is in righteousness-Matthew 6:33

2.      Righteousness is my starting point and from there I’ll know what to do

a.    The foundation that you start from will play a major role in determining where you end up; You can’t start off going in the wrong direction and expect to end up and the right destination (Ex: House foundation)

b.    You got start off by knowing that hey, I’m the righteousness of God, I’m in right standing with God, and I have rights before God and I know what they are

3.      We can’t go anywhere without first establishing ourselves in righteousness

a.    We can’t talk about walking in love if you’re not established in righteousness; I have to be established in the truth that I am right before I can do right

b.    We can’t talk about healing or prosperity if you’re not established in righteousness; you have to know you have a right to them

4.      Many people get messed up about healing/prosperity b/c they didn’t start here

5.      Without being established in this there’ll be no 1) Relationship 2) Faith, Boldness, Confidence 3) Receiving 4) Ruling, Reigning Authority

C.    We got to develop faith and confidence in our righteousness with God

1.      We’ve got to develop a certainty where our righteousness with God is concerned

a.    I believe that what Jesus did on the cross was a real thing

2.      To develop faith in our righteousness we have to hear the word on it-Romans 10:17

a.    Meditate it, Confess it, and keep it on the forefront your mind; To the point that every time you pray the first thought that you have is I’m the righteousness of God

b.    If we’re going to develop faith in our righteousness then we have to go back to the cross and saturate our thinking with what happened there; I’m right with the father and I have rights as a believer because of what went on at Calvary.

3.      When I believe in my heart I’m made right with God and then confess my way to soundness, wholeness, nothing missing and nothing broken-Romans 10:10
