Keys To Safety

1.     Safe

A.    Free from danger of any kind; as safe from enemies; safe from disease; safe from storms; Not exposed to danger; No longer dangerous; placed beyond the power of doing harm

B.     Exemption from hurt, injury or loss

1.     Exempt-Free from any service, charge, burden, tax, duty, evil or requisition, to which others are subject; not subject; not liable to;

2.     We have responsibility where our safety is concerned-1 John 5:18

A.    You can do things that promote safety & you can do things that make you vulnerable

1.     It can be God’s will for someone to be safe and they not be safe

B.     This shield is a real; there are things that activate this shield & things that deactivate it

1.     You can’t live the safe life & not be conscious of this shield and what makes it work

3.     Key To Safety #1-Trusting God is a major key to being safe-Proverbs 29:25, 30:5

A.    Trust relies on God-Proverbs 3:5, Psalm 23:1

1.     When you aren’t looking to God it reveals lack of trust

a.    Trust constantly looks to God in everything for everything

b.    Trust in God is revealed in that you look to Him first and then only Him

c.     Trust doesn’t try to figure out how it can make this work

d.    Trust commits the care of this thing into God’s hands

2.     Whomever you look to first & the most is who you trust; it reveals who you have confidence in (EX: Do you look to your paycheck, your job, medicine, ect)

3.     I’m looking to him because a trust He’s the answer

B.     Trust is not moved, it’s committed, planted like a tree-Jeremiah 17:7

1.     Trust commits to do it’s part no matter what because it trust God will do His

a.    Trust doesn’t ask questions, wonder, or become weary it continues

b.    Lack of continuing reveals lack of trust

2.     I’m not moved because a trust Him that what he said is true

C.    Trust will rest

1.     Trust is revealed by the presence peace-Phillipians 4:8

2.     Trust is revealed by the absence of worry, frustration, and discouragement

3.     Trust always has a good attitude; Trust knows everything is going to be alright

4.     I’m resting in quietness and peace because I trust Him

D.    Trust is not revealed by who you say you trust, but it’s revealed by what you do

1.     Who am I looking to? Whom am I relying on?

2.     If I say I trust God, am I easily moved?  Am I continuing?

3.     If I say I trust God is peace present & frustration, discouragement, & worry absent?

E.     The shield of Faith will keep you safe and quench the attack-Ephesians 6:16

1.     1 Peter 1:5-Faith/trust activates the power of that shield and puts it to work

2.     Unbelief, worry, fear, doubt is unsafe  

4.     Key To Safety #2-Doing what the word says will keep you safe

A.    The Word is your shield

1.     Psalm 91:4-Your truth is my shield and buckler; the Word will shield you from stuff

a.    The secret place of the Most High is not some mythical, magical, place; it’s a real place

2.     When u live inside the boundaries of the word, being a doer of the word it’s safe

B.     The protecting power of the Word

1.     1 John 1:5-God is light and in Him there is do darkness at all

a.    EX: Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature, at which point the atoms of a substance transmit no thermal energy - they are completely at rest; 459.67 degrees

b.    Darkness can’t exist in God

2.     John 1:5-God who is Light is the Word-God = Light; God = The Word; The Word = Light

a.    Life (zoe) = Light = God = Word ensure

1)      Zoe-The power darkness can’t overcome; therefore it’s absolute fullness of life, life the way God has it, blessed life; The God-kind of life, the life of God, life that is filled with vitality, unrivaled life, unequaled life, matchless, richly loaded, overflowing, supernatural, self-sustaining life, the thing that makes God, God

b.    When you talk about life, light, or the Word you’re talking about a force that darkness has no answer for, that evil cannot overcome or penetrate

C.    When you do the Word, you dwell in this life/light, in this power force that darkness has no answer for

1.     Psalm 17:4-By hearing and doing the Word you’re going to miss some evil stuff

a.    NIV-I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded.

2.     Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 14-15-If you do the word you’ll be shielded from the curse

a.    There’s no bad stuff inside the boundary of this word

b.    The bad stuff comes when you get outside the boundary of the word

3.     Hebrews 2:1-3-When you neglect the word you reject your safety

a.    We don’t want to hear things from the word and let them slip b/c this Word is my shield

b.    We need to give earnest attention to the things we have already heard

1)      What we’ve heard we must apply ourselves to

2)      If we do this what we’ve heard won’t slip

c.     The word was spoken by angels and those who neglected it weren’t safe

d.    We can’t escape danger safely if we neglect the Word; The Word is our safety

1)      Our safety was spoken and when we neglect the Word we neglect it

2)      A commitment to the Word of God will ensure you of safety

4.     Proverbs 13:13-If you despise and neglect the Word you won’t be shielded

a.    Nothing on the planet should be more significant to you than the Word of God

b.    If you’re safety is significant to you, then the word must be significant to you

5.     Daniel 3:16-19-Come hell or high-water they did the Word and they were safe

a.    Exodus 20:3-5-This is the Word of God; their shield

b.    Their safety is certain if they do what the Word says

6.     There’s safety in the Word

a.    There’s a safe place in this unsafe world and it is the Word of God

b.    How could Jesus walk the Earth for 33 years unharmed can completely safe?-John 8:28-29

D.    Satan has targeted that Word  

1.     Mark 4:16-Satan comes after the Word because if he can’t get the Word from you, He can’t get you

2.     Whatever area the Word comes in, it comes to produce safety in the area

3.     John 17:17-You’re set apart and safe and exempt through the Word

5.     Key to Safety #3-Hearing what the Word says repeatedly will keep you safe

A.    Philippians 3:1-Hearing something you already heard from the Word is safe

1.     Listening to the same message more than once is safe

2.     Jesus repeated himself (Matthew 19:24, Mark 4-He taught the parable and then taught it again)

B.     Joshua 1:8-The more you hear it, the more likely you are to do it & the safer you’ll be

1.     It’s continually exposing yourself to the Word that enables you to be a doer of it

C.    Proverbs 3:19-26-Don’t let the Word depart from your eyes; it’s safe

1.     Proverbs 1:33-Hearing this word is a big part of being safe  (Hear, attend to, obey)

D.    Romans 8:6, Isaiah 26:3-Thinking in line with the Word is safe

6.     Key To Safety #4-Understanding what the Word says will keep you safe

A.    Proverbs 2:11-To have understanding of the Word is safe

B.     Hosea 4:6-Lack of knowledge about the word is an unsafe way to live

C.    Job 3:25-Job didn’t understand that fear is what brought this stuff on him

7.     Key To Safety #5-The words of your mouth will keep your safe

A.    Proverbs 13:3-Saying only what God says is safe

8.     Direction, Correction, Instruction

A.    Psalm 32:8

B.     Proverbs 15:10

C.    Proverbs 4:13

D.    Proverbs 3:11
