Grace Is God's Will

I.      Isaiah 30-God is longing to be gracious to you

A.    One of the major problems they have is that they are not in their place

1.      Rebellious people who are outside of the place given by the authority over them

a.    The authority has told them to be somewhere and they are somewhere else

2.      A major key to walking in grace is to be in your place

a.    2 Timothy 1:9-Your place and your grace go together

b.    1 Corinthians 12:18-God is the one gives the place

c.     Romans 12:4-6-We don’t all have the same place, the same grace, the same gifts

1)       EX: If your place is pastor, then you’re grace is to pastor---If a pastor tries go sell shoes, he is not graced to do that b/c that’s not his place

3.      There are specific graces and places and general graces and places

a.    You have a specific place and grace on your life (Doctor, secretary, your church)

b.    As believers we have general places that we should be

1)       We are called to the general place of love, faith, obedience to the Word, etc

4.      As believers when you leave your place, you miss your grace

a.    When you are outside of your place, God cannot be gracious to you

1)       1 of strongest ways 2 sure up God’s grace in ur life is to “Always be in ur place.”

b.    You’re not going to get grace from God when you’re not in the place of God

1)       Ecclesiastes 10:4-Whatever you do, do not leave your place

2)       Genesis 12:1-Abraham is given a new place and that’s where his grace is

a)     Immediately Abraham got in his place & God was able 2 be gracious 2 him

5.      Get in your place and stay there

a.    The only way to know where you’re place is, is to find out what the Word says

B.     Where are you going when you are in need of grace

1.      2-They are in need of grace, but aren’t looking to the source of grace

a.    They’re going to Egypt to find something that only God can give

b.    The reason they are doing this is b/c they trust Egypt more than God

1)       Who you look to that’s who you trust  

2.      The main problems believers are having in receiving this grace from God is they aren’t looking to him b/c they don’t trust Him & they don’t trust him b/c they have no foundation of the word

a.    You can try to plug your toaster into your toilet, but you won’t find electricity there

b.    You can try to find grace away from God, but you won’t find it there

c.     EX: They look to medicine, the economy, to their ability to save money

3.      Matthew 7:7-People aren’t seeking grace and that’s why they’re not finding it

a.    Where this is no demand for grace there will be do supply of grace (James 4:4)

1)       Have you placed any demand on the grace of God for anything today?

b.    Is 30:19, Heb 4:16-What you are not in faith for, I cannot give to you by grace

1)       They gave God no faith & he had avenue in which 2 flow grace 2 them

4.      Practice looking to His grace for everything

a.    Develop a life that runs on the grace of God

C.    The thing you look to rather than looking to God will end up being your disgrace

1.      3-They are going 2 be disgraced b/c they trusted in a thing that had no grace

a.    “Dis” is a prefix that means separation has taken place

b.    When u look to things for grace rather than God you’ll be separated from grace

2.      5-Egypt cannot profit them b/c it can’t supply them with the grace they need

a.    In a time of need you need grace to help, not Egypt to help

1)       In a time of need u need grace to help, not the world, medicine, the economy

2)       The people couldn’t help them, but grace could have (Hebrews 4:16)

b.    Grace is what will profit them and it’s down in Egypt it’s with God

1)       Egypt was a disgrace to them – It separated them from grace

c.     Egypt couldn’t profit them b/c there was no grace there and the flesh can’t profit you b/c there is no grace there (John 6:63)

1)       When you are walking in the flesh you are walking in opposition to the word of God and there is no grace there; Grace & profit is found in walking in the spirit

2)       They way they went down to Egypt in a time of need is the way we’ve been going to the flesh in the time of need

a)     EX: You’ve been in need for a while so you get frustrated, discouraged; you’re going down to Egypt and there’s no grace down there

3.      7-“Help” outside of the grace of God will be of no use to you  

a.    Hebrews 4:16-You need grace to help

b.    Egypt’s strength is to do nothing

4.      8-Write this down so that others will learn from it

D.    They weren’t receiving the grace they needed to help b/c of stuff they were doing

1.      Two main reasons why they’re not receiving grace

a.    They are despising and rejecting his Word; not in their place

1)       When God tells you to do something that immediately becomes the “place” you should be and that is where your grace is

2)       9-They will not hear, listen, & obey the Word of God & it kept them out of grace

a)     This is what keeps most believers out of grace today

b.    They are not trusting him; no faith (Romans 5:2)

1)       Faith has always been the way to access God’s grace

c.     13-THEREFORE-This is why you’re not receiving grace

2.      This is how to get saved by grace and have victory; This is where grace is, this is where your salvation and victory is

a.    1.Return-Withdrawl, go back-Get back in your place

b.    2.Rest-Quietness, quiet attitude-Get back in faith

3.      15,16-They rejected grace; they said no to grace by saying no to their place & faith

a.    15-YOU would not-It doesn’t say God didn’t want to be gracious to them

1)       They wouldn’t do what they needed to do so God could show them grace

b.    We will flee upon horses and ride upon the swift-Not in their place

1)       We will-They picked their own place and got out of grace

4.      When God gives you His word, He gives you a place to be and when you reject His Word, you reject that place, and in doing so you reject grace

a.    John 15:4,7, 1 John 2:5-We are to abide in him and we do that by keeping his word abiding in the word that is our place and that’s where our grace is

b.    This is the word of grace (Acts 14:3)

1)       You’re deceived if you think you can live a life full of God’s grace and give little to no time to the Word of God

2)       One of the main ways you can see more of God’s grace in your life is by simply being a doer of the Word

c.     1 Peter 2:3-When you’ve partaken of this Word & increased & grown b/c of it you have tasted that the Lord is gracious (1 main way we experience God’s grace)

1)       The beginning of seeing God’s grace in your life is a desire for the Word

a)     Believers see no grace b/c they have no desire 4 the Word

2)       As we grow and increase through the word we are tasting of God’s grace

5.      Say yes to grace

a.    I said grace is over here in faith and in being a doer of the Word, but you said No; you said I will be frustrated, I will be discouraged, I will watch more TV;

E.     We are not waiting on God to be gracious to us, He is waiting on us to do what’s necessary so He can be gracious to us

1.      Why didn’t He just do it? B/C they were hindering him from doing so

a.    What they did effected whether or not he was able to be gracious to them

b.    What they did kept God from being able to be gracious to them

c.     2 Corinthians 9:8-He’s able to make all grace abound towards them, but his ability is being limited by stuff that they are doing

2.      If we want to walk in grace we have to long after, long for, desire earnestly and eagerly, rest in expectation, and LOOK to God

a.    Believers have been looking for & longing after medicine, another job & not God

3.      The people in their place God will be very gracious to you-That’s his will

a.    The people in God’s kingdom, doing things the Kingdom way, get grace

b.    No more weeping-crying, lamenting, bewailing, mourn, cry in grief & humiliation

c.     To receive God’s grace we have to come to him in faith

1)       Cry-To cry, cry out, call, call for help, to call (to one's aid), to cry, cry out (in need), to proclaim

2)       Hebrews 4:14-16-This is how NT Believers “cry” out

d.    Very Gracious-The Hebrews word gracious twice

II.     At the core of everything God is you’ll find Grace

A.    God’s will for your life is abundant grace

1.      Psalm 84:11-What God wills to do-The Lord will; this is his will to give you grace

a.    God is extending grace towards you; Grace is constantly being offered

1)       God’s will is that grace be available for you in every situation

b.    No good thing will he withhold-It’s not His will to withhold grace and good things

1)        God’s not a grace withholding God, He’s a grace giving God

c.     God’s will is that the upright have grace

1)       When you’ll swear 2 your own hurt & change not there’s grace for you (Ps 15:4)

2)       You stand your ground and do what’s right b/c it’s right; the Lord will not withhold grace from you

2.      Isaiah 30:18-19-What God wants to do and the level at which he wants to do it

a.    Very-Denotes a great degree; He wants to give you grace in great degree

3.      2 Corinthians 9:8-What God is capable of doing where grace is concerned

4.      1 Peter 2:4-What God is doing? – He is offering all grace to you        

a.    All that pertains to life and godliness is all grace

B.     Grace is the nature of God and it’s at the very core of his being

1.      The Lord introduces himself as gracious (Exodus 22:27)

a.    Exodus 34:6-Grace is one aspect of the very name of God

1)       It doesn’t say he has grace, but that He IS gracious

b.    At the very core of God’s being is loving-kindness, goodwill, favor; At the very core of his being is the desire to give joy, to give pleasure, to delight, to make things sweet & lovely; At the very core of his being there is ability to accomplish anything possible/impossible giving him the advantage him in every situation

2.      Lord Gracious (IS isn’t in the original translation)

a.    2 Chronicles 30:9-For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

b.    Psalm 86:15-But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, & gracious, longsuffering, & plenteous in mercy & truth.

c.     Psalm 103:8-The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

d.    Psalm 111:4-He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

e.    Psalm 145:8-The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

f.      Joel 2:13-And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

C.    The graciousness of Grace Himself  

1.      Psalm 116:1

a.    3-He’s in trouble

b.    4-He sought God and got grace (He looked to God and called in faith)

c.     6-Grace gave him victory

d.    7-Grace did it in abundance

e.    8-Grace set him free and made him strong

f.      8-Grace wiped the tears from his eyes and kept him from falling

g.    9-Grace got him in the land of prosperity

h.     12,17-I will offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving

2.      Nehemiah 9:7-31

a.    7-Choosing Grace

b.    8-Covenant Making Grace

c.     8-Giving the best Grace

d.    11-Victory giving Grace

e.    12-Leading Grace

D.    The Spirit of Grace, the Word of God, Jesus full of grace

1.      1 John 5:7-The Father, the (Word) Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one

a.    Three different personalities or manifestations, but one God

b.    EX: If God is love, then the Word of God is the word of Love, the Son of God is the son of Love, and the spirit of God is the spirit of Love

2.      The spirit of God is The spirit of grace-Zechariah 12:10, Hebrews 10:29

a.    The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God and He is the spirit of grace

1)       In my Holy Spirit Notes from 4 years ago: The Holy Spirit is the answer to every problem & He is the provision for every need

b.    Comforter-One called along side to help

c.     Counselor-One who gives advice to another

d.    Helper-He helps us and gives us aid, he gives us assistance, and support

e.    Intercessor-To meet with, come between, intercede, prayer, petition, or entreaty in favor of another; The Holy spirit is in favor of us

f.      Strengthener-Divine enablement

g.    Standby-One to be relied on especially in emergencies (time of need); a favorite or reliable choice or resource

3.      The Word of God is the word of Grace-Acts 14:3, 20:32

a.    The Word is God and it’s the Word of Grace; God is grace (John 1:1)

b.    Acts 20:32-The Word of His Grace

1)       Build You Up-To establish, to promote growth in Christian wisdom, affection, grace, virtue, holiness, blessedness; give constant increase in Christian knowledge and a life conformed thereto; is used metaphorically, in the sense of "edifying," promoting the spiritual growth and development of character of believers, building a house or erecting a building (the more you build it up the more established and the stronger it gets)

a)     It’s the word of God’s goodwill, loving-kindness, favor (Matthew 6:10)

b)     It’s the word that gives joy, pleasure, delight, and makes life sweet

c)     It’s the word of divine enablement, divine grace, divine power (Rom 1:16)

2)       This message of Grace is not only going to save you it’s going to grow you up in give you everything God has for you

a)     CEV-I now place you in God's care. Remember the message about his great kindness! This message can help you and give you what belongs to you as God's people.

b)     MSG-32"Now I'm turning you over to God, our marvelous God whose gracious Word can make you into what he wants you to be and give you everything you could possibly need in this community of holy friends.

c)     NCV-32 "Now I am putting you in the care of God and the message about his grace. It is able to give you strength, and it will give you the blessings God has for all his holy people.

d)     GW-I am now entrusting you to God and to his message that tells how kind he is. That message can help you grow and can give you the inheritance that is shared by all of God’s holy people.

e)     NIRV-Now I commit you to God's care. I commit you to the word of his grace. It can build you up. Then you will share in what God plans to give all his people.

f)      WWE-And now, my brothers, I give you to God. I leave with you his word which brings blessing. That word is able to make you strong. It will give you your share in the good things of God promised by him. He gives these good things to people who are pure and holy.

g)     WB-And now I betake you to God and to the word of his grace, that is mighty to edify and give heritage in all that be made holy.

3)       The word of His grace gives u an inheritance (Make you what you ought to be)

a)     Rom 8:17, Eph 2:6, Heb 1:2, 1 Jn 4:17-You’re a joint-heir with Jesus, u have joint-seating w/ him, he is the heir of all things & as he is so are u in this world

c.     Acts 20:24-The Gospel of Grace

1)       The good news about the grace of God is not just that grace will save you from your sins, strengthen your spirit, renew your mind, keep your body whole and strong, bring love into your relationships, overflow you financially, & it will be the divine empowerment to accomplish anything possible or impossible

d.    When Jesus spoke he spoke grace words (Luke 4:22)

1)       Grace was in every word that Jesus came speaking

4.      Jesus was God manifested in the flesh & he came to the Earth full of Grace (Jn 1:14)

E.     The God of all grace-1 Peter 5:10

1.      He is the God of all loving-kindness, all good-will, all favor; the God of all joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, and loveliness; the good of ability to accomplish anything possible or impossible; the God of all advantage

2.      The God of all grace has invited us into his eternal excellence, magnificence

a.    Grace is always being offered

3.      After you’ve suffered a while-Hebrews 2:18-Resisted-1 Peter 5:9-Resist in faith

a.    Faith is always apart of receiving grace

b.    Don’t got down to Egypt

4.      The God of all grace is doing this

a.    Make you what you ought to be-Luke 13:8-Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, los these 18 years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day

1)       You’re a seed of Abraham and you ought to be rich, healed, having victory

b.    Perfect-Grace’s job is to leave nothing missing, lacking, or broken

1)       Acts 4:33-Grace showed up and they lacked nothing
