God Wants You Safe
FOUNDATION STATEMENT: I want them to know
there’s safety in me, there’s security in me, and if they’ll trust me
everything is going to be All-Right
I. What does it mean to be
safe? (Proverbs 29:25)
A.
1) Safety means to be free from danger of any
kind
1.
Safety means to be free from hurt, injury or damage in every
area of your life
a.
Free
from damage in your spirit, soul, body, relationships and finances
2.
Safe-H7965-Shalom; Safety encompasses every area of your life
a.
Safety for your spirit, your soul, your body,
your relationships and your finances
b.
Safe
from enemies; safe from disease; safe from poverty; safe from the failure; safe
from tragedy
B.
2) Safety
means that you’re not exposed to danger
1.
Safe-G1295-To preserve through danger, to bring safely through
a.
The idea is that you went through something
dangerous, but were preserved
b.
That
means danger is out there, but when you’re safe you’re not vulnerable to it
2.
While you’re in an Earth full of danger,
you’re going to be preserved, brought safely through, and kept from perishing
a.
What’s
keeping you safe is greater than anything trying to do you harm
C.
3) Safety means that you are secure (shut in
and nothing can get through)
1.
Safe-G804-Firm (that which can be relied on), certain, true, secure
a.
Free
from danger of being taken by an enemy
b.
The
place is well-fortified & secure against attack from
an enemy.

Free
from fear of danger; not alarmed; not disturbed by fear; confident of safety

prosperity), To be set on high, be (safely) set on high

Ephesians
1:19, 2:6-You are inaccessibly high for the enemy; don’t come down

Birthed out of that security will come
assurance, boldness, carelessness

You
can be certain it won’t happen that way because you’re safe from that
D.
4) Safety means while we live in a world full
of the curse we can safe from the curse
1.
I’m not going to fail I’m safe from failure;
I’m not going to live in lack I’m safe from lack; There’s protection and saftey from those things
II. God’s always wanted His people
safe; it was never the plan of God that His people partake of the evil that’s
going on in the world, but it was His plan that they be separated from it
A.
Ezekiel 34:25-28-The covenant of Safety
1.
25-It’s a covenant of Shalom that includes
safety
2.
25-They’re going to dwell safely in the
wilderness, a dangerous place
a.
You can be safe in an unsafe place
3.
25-Sleep-Safety & rest always go
together; when you believe you’re safe you’ll rest
4.
28-We’ll no more be a prey to Satan and his
devices
5.
28-You can’t put fear on a man who knows he’s
safe

1 Samuel 12:11-And the LORD
sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan,
and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of
the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelled safe.

Deuteronomy 12:10-But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your
God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about,
so that ye dwell in safety;

Job 5:11-To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

Ps 4:8-I will both lay me down in peace, and
sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.

III. God wants us safe
A.
John 17:1-18-“Safe” is God’s will for your
life
1.
4-Get the picture: He’s finished & he’s
saying a “final” prayer to the Father
a.
20-He’s praying for them & us
b.
9-10-He has an affection for the ones he’s
praying for
2.
11,12-The subject here is the protection and
safety of those who followed him
a.
11-I’m going where there is no evil, they are
staying in a place full of evil
b.
11- He wants those that have his love and
affection kept & guarded
c.
12-When I was here I kept them, but I’m not
going to be here anymore
3.
13-Talking about the safety you have will
cause joy to abound
4.
14-We are not sent from the world; we’ve been
sent from Heaven to the Earth and we are on assignment, the same way Jesus was
(2 Corinthians 5:20)
a.
We are ambassadors sent from a safe place to
a foreign unsafe place
1)
EX: If the USA sends and ambassador into a
foreign hostile land they send him with the protection necessary so that he can
get his job done. He’s safe.
b.
18-Jesus was sent from Heaven & He was
safe (Jn 8:59, Mk 4:40, Lk
8, Mt 14)]
1)
Jesus sent us, the same way God sent Him
2)
The way of safety was available for him when
he was sent, He wants it available for us when we are sent; I’m able to be safe
just like he was safe
3)
In the Kingdom you’ve been sent to the Earth,
but not w/o protection (Ps 34:7)
5.
15-Jesus, the head of the church, is praying
that you be kept from evil in the world
a.
Evil-Bad; bad is anything that’s not the Word
of God b/c God & His word is good
b.
Jesus is praying that we’d be safe in an
unsafe place
6.
17-This safety and protection is going to
come through the Word
B.
Why is God interested in your safety?
1.
1) Because He loves you---Deuteronomy 33:12-NIV-Let the beloved of the LORD rest
secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves
rests between his shoulders. NLT-The
people of Benjamin are loved by the Lord
and live in safety beside him He surrounds them continuously and
preserves them from
every harm. NCV-The
Lord's loved ones will lie down in safety, because he protects them all day
long. The ones he loves rest with him. HCSB-The
LORD's beloved rests securely on
Him. He shields him all day long, and he rests on His shoulders.
a.
You are beloved of God (Romans 1:7)
1)
God loves you and doesn’t want you harmed in
anyway
2)
When you’re spared it’s evidence of God’s
love for you
2.
2) If you’re not protected from evil, you
won’t be able to get your assignment done
a.
If an ambassador gets harmed he can’t do what
he’s called to do
C.
People get mixed up about what God wants for
their lives b/c of what they see happen to other people; we’re not to judge
what God wants for me based on what other people get, but based on what His
Word says
1.
2 Timothy 4:18-And the Lord will deliver me from
EVERY evil work
a.
Delivered out of the mouth of lion-That’s
naturally “impossible”
b.
AMP-The Lord will certainly deliver me-That’s
bold
c.
AMP-Bring me safe unto his kingdom-You don’t
have to die in tragedy
d.
He’s in prison, most of his followers left
him, and no one came to his defense
e.
Paul held their coats when they stoned
Stephen, but it didn’t effect his faith
2.
Psalm 121:1-7-God will preserve you from all
evil
a.
You got to look to God for your safety
b.
God protects me and he never slumbers nor
sleeps
c.
The Lord will preserve you from everything,
all the time, forever
3.
Proverbs 19:23-He that fears God will not be
visited with evil
a.
Psalm 115:11-If you fear Him, you trust him,
and he’s your shield
4.
Luke 10:19-Nothing shall by any means hurt or
harm you
5.
John 16:33-He’s deprived the world of power
to harm you
a.
Knowing safe stirs up your joy
