Who Is Determining The Outcome?
I.
Deuteronomy 30 (Who’s In
Control?)-2-What the Lord did in their lives was determined by what they did
(This a theme when you’re talking about authority) – Many believe the
Lord can do whatever he wants no matter what I do or don’t do. However, God has
given us such authority that we can put God in a position where He CAN’T do
what He wants to do for us-Psalm 78:41
A. By returning to the Lord
they permitted Him to turn their captivity, but before that He didn’t have
permission; they have the authority to determine the outcome
1.
They
had to come back to Him first and THEN he would be able to move in their lives
2.
The
Lord would gather them, fetch them, do them good, multiply them more than their
fathers, circumcise their heart – This is what God wanted to do
B. 7-These curses are coming
on the enemies of God’s people, but it does not have to come on them; they
could be for God’s people and if they were they wouldn’t be cursed
1.
The
authority to determine the outcome and not be cursed is in their hands
2.
Because
they have a choice they have authority
C. 9-They are going to
determine whether or not they are prosperous, not God; they have the authority
to determine the outcome
1.
God
gave them dominion, control, and authority regarding their prosperity
a. God has them in a position
where nobody but them can stop them from prospering
b. They don’t have to be
broke in any way; they have been authorized to prosper by God and now nobody
can keep it from happening but them
2.
The
administration of God’s goodness in their lives is being determined by them,
NOT Him (This is another major them in regards to authority)
a. They are determining what
God does in their lives, NOT God
3.
What
if they were to pray, “Lord if it be thy will make us plenteous in every area
of our lives.” This is unacceptable because they are trying to make God
responsible for something He made them responsible for
D. 11-15-They have authority
and cannot put the responsibility of their outcome on someone else
1.
11-This
prosperous life is not too hard for you to obtain and it’s not far off or far
away
a. This commandment is their
answer, their prosperous life, their victory
b. People get the idea that
it’s hard to receive and walk in what God has prepared for them and that’s an
all out lie-Colossians 1:11-13
1)
God
has made be able to partake of everything that He has prepared for me by
delivering my from the authority of darkness so Satan can’t stop me
c. Is this commandment
something they don’t have the authority and power to do
1)
He’s
telling me that it’s not hard to exercise your authority
2.
12-It is not in Heaven --- It’s not
in Heaven and It’s not in Heaven’s hands-(No just the
commandment, but his life that is attached to it is not in Heaven or in
Heaven’s hands)
a. 15-If it’s not in Heaven
or in Heaven’s hands then where is it? It is set before you
1)
It’s
out of Heaven, it’s out of Heaven’s hands and it is set before you
2)
They
key to them getting into this prosperous blessed life in verse 9 and 16 is to
exercise their authority by making the right choice
b. Believers have been slow
or even absent in exercising their authority, but quick to make somebody else
responsible for their outcome
1)
“Who
shall go up for us and bring it to us?” --- We don’t have the authority or say
2)
13-You
don’t need somebody else to do something or to be looking to someone else to do
something, you have the authority to determine your outcome
3)
Are
you waiting on the Lord? Because according to this verse He set it before you
4)
Isaiah
30:15-God’s waiting on them to give Him permission
c. Romans 10:6-Right-standing
with God which comes by faith doesn’t talk like this; it doesn’t talk like
someone else needs to do something yet before it can receive; If I could just
touch God with my problem, if I could just get a touch from God
1)
It
recognizes the work is finished and the authority to determine the outcome is
in the heart and the mouth of the individual
d. 14-A persons salvation is
not in Heaven or in Heaven’s hands it’s in their hands; it’s in the authority
of their heart and their mouth-Romans 5:18
1)
You
don’t need somebody to go to Heaven and get it for you and bring it to you
a) Your prosperity and
success isn’t in Heaven, it’s not in Heaven’s hands
2)
The
words in YOUR heart and YOUR mouth --- You have authority
a) This is how you release
your authority, with your words
E. 15-In giving you the
choice, God have you the authority to determine your outcome and what you have
in life and God put the responsibility for the outcome in your lap
1.
God
said, “I have set it before YOU,”
and therefore it’s not someone else’s choice
2.
19-He’s
calling Heaven and Earth to record this day against YOU because if you have something you don’t want you had the
authority to not choose it and you could have chose something else; there’s
nobody to blame
3.
He’s
not calling Heaven and Earth to record this day against your boss, the
president, your family, but against you because it’s your choice and you have
authority
F. 18-They and you don’t
have to perish --- Peter didn’t have to fall off the water
1.
Who
wants them to perish/be destroyed? Satan (John 10:10)
2.
How
bad does Satan want them to perish? A lot
3.
Can
he just make them perish? No
4.
Why
can’t he just make them perish? No authority
II.
God’s is not the one
determining your outcome in life’s circumstances; The authority to determine
the outcome lies with the believer
A. Does God want it for you?
Yes. Can the devil stop it? No. Then why don’t you have it? Because there is a
lack of revelation on how to exercise your authority effectively.
1.
God’s
not determining who wins and who loses, who gets healed and who doesn’t, who
prospers and who doesn’t, who lives and who dies – That’s not His choice
to make because he gave that choice to you
a. John 14:1-Who is
determining whether or not your heart is troubled? Who’s in control?
b. Romans 6:12-Who is
determining whether or not sin reigns in your life? Who’s in control?
2.
Christianism
has made a theology of asking God to do something that He already told you He
wanted to do and that was His idea to begin with and people live like this
because they have no revelation of their authority
B. Woman with the issue of
blood-Mark 5:25-34
1.
What
is God’s will? What does God want?
a. Does God want this woman
to die? No.
b. Does that mean she will
automatically live? No.
c. Why? Because He’s not determining
the outcome
d. Does this woman have
to die of this illness? No, she can choose life
2.
God
is a God who will give everybody and opportunity; He will set before every
person life and death, healing and sickness, prosperity and poverty;
a. God got word to this lady
about Jesus through somebody: What’s He doing? He is setting before her
sickness and health
1)
Do
you think anybody else who was sick like her, heard about him and stayed home?
Yes
2)
He
won’t make you choose, but he will give an opportunity to choose life
b. God couldn’t force her to
believe, to speak, and to act; She made a choice
1)
She’s
in control: She can believe and choose life or be in unbelief
2)
God
will put the outcome in your hands; all you have to do is say yes & He will
do the rest
3.
26-In
the middle of this 12 years do you think Satan was telling her it’s always
going to be like this, you’re always going to have this condition, you can’t
change you’ve tried everything? He certainly tried to paint a picture on this
woman’s heart that she should just accept this because she has no authority,
control, or say in the matter?
a. He is still doing that
today; trying to get you to accept something that you’ve been redeemed from
4.
“If
I touch the hem of his garment I will be made whole,” is a statement of
authority and that tells me that whatever this lady heard she must of gave her
the revelation that this was her choice and that she had authority to determine
this outcome
a. When she heard of Jesus
surely she had questions
1)
Does
He really heal?
2)
Can
heal everything or just some things?
3)
Is
he healing everybody that comes to him or just some people?
b. She must of got the
revelation that Jesus was not the one choosing which people got healed
1)
Something
she heard, put something in her that empowered her
2)
Whatever
she heard authorized her and she exercised her authority
5.
She
didn’t ask, because once you know he wants it for you, you don’t ask, but
rather you exercise your authority with faith (I have been authorized by the
King of kings)
a. The administration of his
anointing was as much dependent on her faith as it was his will
b. God moving in the lives
of people was not determined by what He wanted but by the faith of the
individual in need
c. People have been waiting
on God instead of exercising their authority by exercising their faith
6.
Her
faith was her authority; it unauthorized the devil, it authorized God
a. The administration of
God’s power was determined by the faith of the receiver, not by God
1)
There
were others out there that were sick and got nothing and it wasn’t because God
didn’t want it for them, it’s because he had no right to do it because they had
no faith
b. She was the one who
determined what happened in her life and who was authorized God to move in her
life
1)
She
could have died if she wanted to do, but she had the authority to live
c. Jesus said your faith did
it --- It authorized what happened
1)
29-Why
was God able to do this? He was authorized by this woman
2)
29-Why
didn’t Satan keep this from happening? No authorization
C. Jairus-Luke 8:49-55
1.
Who’s
going to determine whether or not Jairus does what Jesus said?
a. Can Satan stop him from
doing it? No
b. Can Jesus make Him do it?
No
2.
Jairus
is in control---There person who controls the wheel of faith is going to
determine where the situation goes
a. Jairus can’t just throw
his arms up and say God is in control and ignore what Jesus said
b. He can’t ignore Jesus and
just keep praying that his daughter won’t die
D. Peter-Matthew 14:24
1.
29-The
word of God is the authorization required in the Kingdom
a. Peter now has authority
to walk on the water
2.
30-Who
made him look at the wind? Who made him fear? Who was responsible for him
falling?
a. Peter didn’t have to
fall, he didn’t have to look at the wind, he didn’t have to fear
3.
When
you come out of faith you forfeit your authority
