The Word Authorizes You
I.
The word of God is your
authorization – your empowerment, your authority
A. The blessing the
empowerment to succeed in any area of your life-Proverbs 10:22
1.
When
the blessing is at work nothing can keep you from winning-Jeremiah 17:7
B. God transmit the blessing
to us through his word-Genesis 1:28
1.
The
way God blessed them, empowered them was by saying to them
a. Ephesians 1:3-Blessing-To
say good things about
b. When God says something
good to you then whatever he said you are empowered to be
2.
Genesis
1:28-By saying these words to them He empowered them to carry out these words
a. They have been authorized
(given the authority and power) to be and do these words
b. It would do them no good
to pray God make us fruitful, cause us to multiply, and replenish the Earth;
make us subdue the Earth and cause us to have dominion over it
C. God’s word is His
blessing; It is the right/authority and the might/power to be whatever the word
says
1.
God’s
given you His blessing to be Healed, rich, victorious, strong and so on and
therefore you have be authorized and empowered by His word to be everyone of
those things and anything that comes to oppose those things for your life you
have authority to stop
a. EX: When a man asked the
for the Father’s blessing and he gets it he has the right and the might
b. In the word of God there
is the right/authority and the might/power to be whatever that word says no
matter how impossible it may look
2.
Romans
1:16-The word of God is the empowerment not just encouragement
a. “Be strong” we’ve seen as
encouragement, but it’s the empowerment
b. God’s purpose for
speaking was not just to encourage you, but to empower you
3.
You don’t ask God to make
you do or be what He has authorized you to do or be
a. You need not ask God to make you strong He’s already given
you His blessing to be strong and therefore you must use your faith and
authority to walk in that strength
b. Me being strong was God’s idea to begin with so I can ask him
how to walk in it, wisdom to walk in it, help to walk in it, direction to walk
it, but I can’t ask him to make me strong because he’s already given me His
blessing to be strong and no I must choose it, receive it, and exercise my
authority
4.
God’s
not going to run the spirit of depression off for you; He’ll run him off with
you
a. Anything that comes to
trouble your heart you have authority over and you can run it off and don’t ask
God to do it because He won’t
b. EX: You might be
experiencing some depression and go to the Lord and say Lord I’m experiencing
the symptoms of depression. Now I
know this is not your will for my life and I exercise my authority over it and
I refuse to yield to it. Now Lord
ask and I receive direction and wisdom and help to walk free from this in Jesus
name. --- I didn’t ask him to do
it, I didn’t ask him to resist it, I didn’t ask him to do what I’m supposed to
do
5.
The
word of God is my authorization from Heaven
a. Matt14:29-In this word come Peter
was given the right and the might to walk on the water
1)
Peter
doesn’t need to ask God to give him the ability to walk on the water, or ask
God to cause him to walk on the water because he already has the authorization
to do it
2)
Once
you’ve been authorized it’s time to exercise your authority not sit around and
ask God to do something that he’s authorized you to do
D. God also authorizes you
by the leading of the Spirit
II.
Mark 4:35-40-If you don’t
believe you have authority you won’t exercise the authority that you have
A. The Word of God, the
blessing of God is God authorizing and empowering you
1.
The
Blessing is the empowerment to prosper and have success – Proverbs 10:22
2.
God
blesses by speaking words
a. Genesis 1:28-God blessed
them and said to them – He blessed by saying
b. Ephesians
1:3-Blessed-Said of God --- Blessing Means fair speech --- Eulogia-To speak
good things
c. When we thinking about
cursing we think about bad words and therefore when we think about blessing we
should think about good words (not houses, cars, family or sneezes)
d. The Word of God is the
blessing of God; When God speaks good words over us that’s the blessing
1)
By
his stripes you are healed; that’s the blessing, the empowerment to be healed
2)
That
through his poverty you might be right; that’s the blessing, the empowerment to
be rich
3)
My
peace I give unto you, let not your heart be troubled; that’s the blessing, the
empowerment to live in peace
3.
The
Word of God is the power of God (Romans 1:16, Hebrews 4:12, 1:3, Psalm 107:20,
Matthew 8:16)
a. There’s enough power in
every seed to work and see that seed come to pass
b. When God gave you is Word
he gave you the power to be or have whatever that word said; It was God giving
you His blessing, it was God authorizing giving you the right, it was God
empowering you giving you the might
4.
Genesis
1:28-By saying these words to them He empowered them to carry out these words
a. These words are not just
encouragement, they are empowerment; these words are God transmitting the power
to them
b. They have been authorized
(given the authority and power) to be and do these words
c. It would do them no good
to pray God make us fruitful, cause us to multiply, and replenish the Earth;
make us subdue the Earth and cause us to have dominion over it because he
already authorized them to do it through the words he spoke
5.
You don’t ask God to make
you do or be what He has authorized you to do or be (that doesn’t mean we don’t
ask anything, we just don’t ask those things)
a. You can’t delegate back
to God through your so called “prayer” what God has delegated you to do through
His Word; that’s not prayer it’s unbelief because you don’t believe you have
been authorized and empowered to do or be what God said (Give me strength is
unbelief because he told you to be strong)
b. You need not ask God to make you strong He’s already given
you His blessing to be strong and therefore you must use your faith and
authority to walk in that strength
c. Me being strong was God’s idea to begin with so I can ask him
how to walk in it, wisdom to walk in it, help to walk in it, direction to walk
it, but I can’t ask him to make me strong because he’s already given me His
blessing to be strong and no I must choose it, receive it, and exercise my
authority
d. 2
Cor12-When the devil attacks it’s not time for you to ask God to do something b/c
God gave you authority over the devil and delegated the responsibility of
resisting him and running him of to you
1)
James 4:7-You resist the devil and he will flee from you
2)
Ephesians 4:27-You give the devil no place
3)
Matthew 4-Do it the way Jesus did it
B. Jesus said, “Let us pass
over to the other side.”
1.
Jesus
only said what the Father told him to say and therefore we know that these are
the words of God and because they are God’s words they are the blessing, the
empowerment to, the authorization to get to the other side
a. When God said Be fruitful
and multiply etc…there was power in those words to be
fruitful etc… and when He said let us go to the other
side, there’s power in those words transmitted to them to get to the other side
2.
Through
these words Jesus has transmitted the authority and power to them to get to the
other side
a. They have authority and
the have power over anything and everything that would stop them from getting
to the other side
3.
Jesus
is sleeping on the pillow because he had delegated responsibility of getting to
the other side to them and he gave them the authority to do it
a. Philippians 2:12-It’s
interesting that God sat down and said work out your own salvation
C. When you don’t believe
you have authority you go ask the one you believe does have authority
1.
Why
did they ask Jesus do something about that storm? Because they didn’t believe
they had authority over it. Did
they have authority over it? Yes through the words that Jesus spoke. Why didn’t they exercise their authority
over it? Because they didn’t believe they had authority over it.
2.
You
have authority, but do you believe it because you will not exercise authority
if you don’t believe you have authority
a. Jesus gave them the
authority that they are seeing him exercise
3.
Why
didn’t he ask God to do something? It’s interesting that he’s facing a
life-threatening situation and doesn’t even address the Father. Why?
a. He arose and rebuked the
wind, not prayed to God, but rebuked the wind and said to the sea, not cried to
God, but said to the sea --- Why?
b. He believed he had
authority over the wind and sea --- He had been authorized by God to get to the
other side and knew that he had God-given authority over anything that tried to
stop that from coming to pass
c. Jesus knew he couldn’t do
anything apart from the Father, but he recognized that the Father had given Him
authority and the Father did the work, but it didn’t happened until Jesus
exercised the authority – John 5:19,30,14:12
d. He does the works when we
exercise the authority --- But what most Christians want is for Him to do the
works while they sit back and beg and cry and do nothing and ask and call it
prayer
D. They were infective in
exercising authority and Jesus said it was faith problem
