The Significance Of Man
I.
Why were you created?
– You were created to rule, to reign, to have dominion on the Earth
A. Psalm 8:3-6-God made man
to have dominion over the works of His hands
1.
God
made man a little lower than himself (not angels)
a. Hebrews 1:14-Angels are
ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for the heirs of salvation
2.
Crowned
with glory and honor – Kings wear crowns
3.
God
created the Earth then he created the man with the purpose of that man having
dominion over it
4.
Genesis
1:26- When God created man his mandate to man to have dominion over all the
Earth and bring it into subjection
B. Did Adam really have
authority?
1.
Luke
4:6-Satan had authority over all the Earth
a. If Satan was lying and
didn’t have this authority then this wouldn’t have been a temptation to Jesus
b. That authority was
delivered to him by Adam
2.
2
Corinthians 4:4-The god of this world was Adam before it was Satan
C. When God created man his
mandate to man was not to serve him, was not to love him, was not worship him,
but it has to have dominion over all the Earth and bring it into subjection;
The enemy through religion has taught the church that they were created to
serve God, to worship God, to bring God glory in attempt to distract man from
this dominion mandate and to keep man from seeing just how much authority he
really has
1.
When
God was thinking about his creation when it came to man he didn’t think to
himself I’m going to create a man who will serve me, worship me and bring me
glory-(1Cor13:5-Love doesn’t seek His own)
a. Things you do after you
are created and the reason why you were created are different things
b. Acts 17:24-28-God didn’t
create people so that somebody would love him, serve him, and bless him; he
created people so that he would have somebody to love, serve, and bless
c. Your assignment in the Earth and reason for being here is to
have dominion not that other stuff
2.
God
didn’t create you to bring him glory-You will bring him glory, but that’s not
the sole purpose for you being created (Isaiah
43:7-Even everyone that is called by
my name; for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yeah I have
made him.)
a. I created him for my
glory and I created him to bring me glory are two different things
1)
Glory-Honor,
Abundance, Riches, Splendor
2)
God
created man for his riches, for his splendor, for his honor; to share those
things with man; He created man so that his glory, riches, and splendor would
have a place to rest-John 17:22
b. John 15:7-God is
glorified when his people are abundantly prosperous
3.
God
didn’t create you to worship him; You will worship him, but that’s not his sole
purpose for creation (Psalm 102:18-This shall be written for the generation to
come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord)
a. The people who are
created will praise him, but that’s not why they were created
4.
God
didn’t create you to serve him; You will serve him, but that wasn’t his sole
purpose for creation (Isaiah 43:21-This people have I formed for myself; they
shall show forth my praise)
a. Religion reads that and
says see, “God created us for himself, to serve him, to love him, to worship
him.” God said these are my people
I’m going to bless them, prosper them, honor them and they will show forth my
praise because of it.
II. There’s this attempt by the enemy through the religious man
to make man insignificant because if Satan can get you to see yourself as some
little, small, insignificant, unholy, unrighteous being you’ll never exercise
your authority
A. Psalm 8:3-4-The Bible makes
man significant, not insignificant
1.
He’s
thinking about the greatness of God’s creation and he says God you are so great
that you could create all of these marvelous things and in your greatness what
is man that you the great God is mindful of him
2.
Zechariah
2:8-You are the apple of his eye
3.
Luke
12:7-The hairs on your head God has numbered
B. We are the body of
Christ-Ephesians 1:19-21
1.
The
same power that God used when he raised Jesus from the dead is on the inside of
me so how can I be some little insignificant man
2.
He set Jesus far above all other dominion and I’m
part of that body so it’s under my dominion; so how can I be some little
insignificant man
a. If
you’re in the Body of Christ all names and all dominions are under you
b. I’m
part of Jesus’ body and all of that stuff is under my feet
c. I
can do something about the problems
3.
Your head and your body don’t carry two different
names and authorities; If you’re name is Bill Smith, your head is not named
Bill Jones and your body named Bill Smith; Your Bill Smith from the top to the
bottom
a. Nobody
ever said look there comes Matthew Allaria and his
body
b. When
you try to make me insignificant in light of God’s plan on the Earth you are
dishonoring the Body of Christ of which I am
4.
His body is the fullness of him; Jesus as a head
without a body would not be complete
a. Jesus
said there has never been a prophet born greater than John the Baptist, but he
that is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than John the Baptist; The
least, tinniest, most insignificant born again child of God is in the Body of
Christ and that person has greater standing with God than the greatest prophet
born in the Old Covenant
C. Colossians 2:6-10-We are in him
and he is in us; That means the fullness of all the Godhead is residing not
only in me, but in us collectively; No wonder that John would say, “Greater is
he is that is in me, than he that is in the world.”
1.
1 Corinthians 6:17-20-Your body is the temple of
the Holy Ghost and there is dwelling within you the fullness of the godhead bodily
2.
You get to thinking about that and getting
God-inside minded and fullness of God in me minded and authority with
Jesus-minded
