Sent By God
I.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21-To
get a revelation of the authority of the believer and how to walk in that
authority effectively we must get a revelation our ministry as Jesus’ ambassadors
A. The authority of the
believer has jurisdictional boundaries
1.
You
can’t just do whatever you want with it
2.
It
only works inside the confines of the jurisdictional boundaries that Heaven has
established
B. Authority is all about
the backing; Authorized-Supported
by authority---When somebody is authorized that means they have been given
authority by a higher power and that higher power supports them and backs them
in their action
1.
An
ambassador goes into a foreign place and has the backing of the king or
government that sent him
a. The authority and power
that king or government carries is what’s backing the ambassador
b. When the ambassador goes
to carry out the assignment he has be sent to carry out he has the authority
and power (of his king and government) at his disposal to get his job done (and
his king and government backs him)
c. The ambassador represents
the authority of the government or king he represents
2.
Our authority lies in this ambassador ministry;
our authority lies in the truth that we’ve been sent by Jesus
a.
The fact that we are sent is what gives us
authority (authorizes us)
b.
We have authority because of who sent us
3.
The
only reason an ambassador has any power or authority in that foreign place is because
of government who’s backing him; take away the backing and he’s a zero
a. Authority is not what it
is because of who has it, but because of who backs it
b.
The authority is not in the person himself, but it’s in what
the person represents and who is backing the person; if you were to take the
backing away there’s no power in the person
C. What
is an Ambassador? An authorized representative
sent into a foreign place to preserve the interests and carry out the will of
the one who sent him
1.
Definition
a. A
term of rank or office
b. A
minister of the highest rank employed by a king or government to manage
the public concerns of his own king or government, and representing the
power and dignity of his king or government
c. An
accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to
a foreign country
d. A
person who acts as a representative
e. One
appointed for a diplomatic assignment
2.
What
about an ambassador?
a. An
ambassador is one sent by His king
b. An
ambassador is an official representative of His King
c. An
ambassador represents the power of His king
d. An
ambassador has an assignment in the place he’s been sent
e. An
ambassador is to preserve the interests and carry out the will of the one who
sent Him
D. We
are ambassadors FOR Christ
1.
We are not from the Earth
a. John
17:16-I’m not from Earth, I’m from Heaven sent into the Earth
b. John
3:31-Jesus is from above and we are from above
c. John
3:3-To be born again literally means to be born from above
d. Philippians
3:20-We are citizens of Heaven (An U.S. ambassador sent to Japan is a citizen
of the place he’s been sent from, not the place to which he has been sent)
2.
We have been sent by our
King from Heaven into this foreign land called Earth-John 17:18
a. The
way Jesus was an ambassador of the Father, sent by the Father from Heaven into
the Earth, I am an ambassador of Jesus, sent by Jesus from Heaven into the
Earth
3.
We are official
representatives of our King
a. 2
Corinthians 5:20-In Christ’s stead-In
behalf of, For the sake of, filling the place of another
b. We
are here in the Earth in his behalf, for his sake, filling his place representing
him
4.
We represent the authority
power of our King-Matthew 28:18-20
a. He
has all the power and authority in Heaven and in Earth
b. Go
ye-That’s being sent
c. Jesus
says you go & my authority and power (which is all authority in Heaven &
Earth) will back you
1)
Go ye therefore-Why go?-Because this authority and power will be backing you
d. Jesus
is saying I’m sending you and I’m backing you
e. When
I say in the name that means that I represent his power and authority
1)
When I say in the name of
Jesus, that’s to say it is as if Jesus himself is standing here
f.
You might not look like much, but look who’s backing you
5.
We have an assignment
from Heaven in the Earth to carry out God’s will-Hebrews 13:21
a. We
are here to preserve the interests and carry out the will of the one who sent
us
II.
Jesus was an ambassador for God in the Earth – To walk in
authority you have to have a “sent me” revelation
A. To be
sent of God is to have his backing and that’s what gives you authority
1.
Where God SENDS you and what God SENDS you to
do that’s where you have authority and that’s what you have the authority to do
a. If we
can get a revelation of being sent, we’ll have an understanding of God’s
backing and we will see clearly the level of authority we walk in
b. If I can
understand this word “sent” I can understand how to walk in my authority
2.
Jesus said over and over again that Father sent
me (43 times in the gospel of John Jesus referenced being sent by the
Father)–That means I have his backing, I have authority, I have been
authorized and that’s why when I exercise my authority it works
a. There’s
power in being sent, there’s no power in went
B. John
7:28-30-Ambassador Revelation #1-I’m not
here by my own plan, my own design, my own will or by my own authority (I did
not appoint myself to be here) --- It’s the revelation that you have been sent
1.
As an ambassador who walks in authority you to
have the revelation I did not come of myself, I did not come on my own accord,
as self-appointed, or on my own authority; this wasn’t my idea or plan
2.
John 8:42-“For I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of
myself, but he sent me.”
3.
The Father himself has personally sent me
C. John
8:29- Ambassador Revelation #2-The one
who sent me is with me and
1.
That means he’s backing me and supporting me
here with everything necessary to succeed in what he’s called me to do
2.
The one who sends you is with you where he
sends and in what he sends you to do; He’s not with you and backing you when
you start doing your own stuff
3.
John 7:28-30-To walk in authority ambassador
has to have the revelation of WHO sent him
D. John
6:38-40- Ambassador Revelation #3-I am
not here to do my will, but the will of the one who sent me
1.
The one sent was not sent to do what they want,
but to do the will of the one who sent them
2.
To walk in authority have to get the revelation
I’m not on Earth to do what I want or think, but to do what the One who sent me
wants me to do
E. John
8:16,26-29- Ambassador Revelation #4-The one
who sent me will only back me and support me in what he has sent me to do (He
doesn’t back my own stuff even if it seems to be him)
1.
Jesus said I’m not left alone and it’s because
I do what I’m told and the Father backs it
a. The one
who sends you is with you where he sends and in what he sends you to do; that’s
means he’s only backing you and supporting you in the place he’s sent you and
in the action he’s commanded you
2.
The way to get left alone is to do what you
want rather than doing what you were told to do
a. The
quickest way to be ineffective in authority is to be left alone and the
quickest way to get left alone is to do what you want rather than what the
Father told you to do
b. Without
backing you’re ineffective and without precise obedience you have no backing
3.
An ambassador in another country can do nothing
there of himself; Everything he is there, everything he has there, and
everything he can do there is based on the backing he gets from home and if
disobeys home, he loses the backing of home and he’s alone and can do nothing
a. Well I
thought it was a good idea is not an acceptable response
b. 16AMP,28-If you make decisions on your own and do stuff of
yourself you will get left alone
c. 16-The
decisions of an ambassador are only right when they are not alone in making
their decisions
F. John
9:4- Ambassador Revelation #5: I MUST
works the works of him that sent me
1.
3-He said the works of God, not the works of
Jesus because the Father does the works
2.
If you’re not going to do what you were sent to
do, then what are you going to do because anything else you do won’t have any
backing or authority or success
3.
An ambassador recognizes his need for backing
and therefore he knows how crucial it is that he work the works of the one who
sent him
G. John
4:34- Ambassador Revelation #6: Fulfillment in life comes from doing only
what the Father shows you to do and saying only what the Father tells you to
say because that’s when you are effective and that’s when you get results and
therefore we strive to do what the Father wants and to finish his works
1.
Being ineffective and not getting results
leaves you unfulfilled-John 16:24
2.
Jesus strove to do what the Father wanted him
to do; Jesus strove to finish HIS (the Father’s) work
3.
I think too often we’re striving to do what we
think we should do and to finish our work
H. Ambassador Revelation #7:
Whatever I do and say I have to get it from the one who sent me first
1.
John 12:49-An ambassador doesn’t speak of
himself or of his own authority or of his own accord, but the words he speaks
he got them from the Father and the Father has commanded
a. His commandment is life everlasting: When I do
and say what he tells me to do and say zoe shows up
and ruins the devils plans-John 1:4, 1 John 1:5
2.
John 7:16-17-The ambassador was not sent to say
what he wants to say, to teach what he wants to teach & to be backed with
authority he has to get the doctrine of the one who sent him & only say
that
a. The
ambassador was not sent to push his own agenda, he gets the agenda from home
and he pushes that one
b. An
ambassador only says what the one who sent him has told him to say-John 14:24
I.
John 3:32-Ambassador Revelation #8: I have
to be able communicate with the one who sent me. I have to be proficient at seeking him,
hearing him, and seeing what he’s showing me
1.
John 11:42-They have the revelation that You
have made me Your messenger and if you are his messenger then when he gives you
the message you better be able to hear it and receive it
J. John
12:45-Ambassador Revelation #9: When
you see me you see the one who sent me
1.
A good ambassador strives to replicate the one
who sent him precisely
2.
Everything I do and everything I say I got from
him and therefore I perfectly represent him
K. John
6:57-Ambassador Revelation #10: I live
by the One who sent me
1.
I live by the one who sent me and if I’ll only
do what he tells me to do and only say what he tells me to say He’ll see to it
that I’m powerful, strong, efficient and enjoy real life blessed in everyway
2.
The same way Jesus lived by the Father I live
by Jesus
