Sensitive To God's Voice
I.
We must be sensitive to
His leading
A. If you are born again the
Holy Spirit is always doing His job, leading you-John 16:13
1.
Our
disobedience doesn’t effect His faithfulness to God to do His job
a. EX-Just b/c you don’t
listen to the GPS doesn’t mean it quits doing its job
2.
Some
people are more-led of him than others b/c they are more sensitive to His
leading and more aware of Him
B. One of the worst things
that can happen to a believer is to get desensitized to the voice of the One
who has been sent to lead you into God’s best for your life
1.
His
voice is the direction giving instrument that will lead you into God’s best;
There’s nothing more important than hearing the voice of God & yielding
a. Proverbs 1:33-If yielding
to his voice will keep you safe not yielding would be unsafe; if yielding to
his voice would cause you to be at ease, to be at peace, then not yielding
would lead you into uneasiness and torment
b. John 16:13-His voice will
lead you into truth that will make free, set you apart, and keep you out of
Satan’s plan for your life
c. 1 Cor
2:14-His voice is designed to lead you to the experience of the promise
2.
The
worst place a believer can be is the place where the spirit of God is speaking,
but you are not hearing
a. EX: It’s like the pilot
being insensitive to the air traffic controller
b. It’s not the pilot’s job
to decide where to go, it’s His job to yielding to the leading
c. It’s extremely dangerous
for him to ignore or be insensitive to this direction
C. We need to be
ultra-sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit
1.
You
shouldn’t need six burning bushes to be lead to do something; that’s being hard
to work with; Don’t be hard for the Holy Spirit work with
2.
How
would you like to be leading somebody and they need you to tell them sixteen
times and confirm it twelve more before they move
D. We want to be so
sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, that he could just nudge us and we
know that it is him---We need to be Rein trained believers
1.
The
reins of your heart-Psalm 16:7, 139:13, 26:2
a. Reins-The strap of a
bridle, fastened to the curb or snaffle on each side, by which the rider of a
horse restrains and governs him---The instrument of curbing, restraining or
governing
b. The reins are your inner
most being-Psalm 26:2
c. The reins of your heart
will instruct you-Psalm 16:7
d. God possesses the reins
of your heart-Psalm 139:13
2.
Don’t
be one who needs a bit in their mouth-Psalm 32:8-9
a. God will instruct you and
teach you and guide you in the way should go, but he doesn’t want to do it like
the horse with a bit in his mouth
b. Some horses want their
own head and you have to have a metal bit and bridle in their mouth and they
yield to get away from the hurt in their mouth – Those are hard headed
horses
c. A reign-trained horse
doesn’t have to have a bit it its mouth it’s lead by the leather reign against
his fur and when that leather gently presses against him that horse moves; He’s
so sensitive to that leather reign that if it just pushes up against him in the
least he’s moved by it
1)
When
they sense that slight impression they just yield and go that way
3.
We
can train ourselves to follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit so that when we
sense the slight impression of the Lord we are stopping and looking and
listening
a. Confess: It’s not going to be hard for the Lord to lead me; I yield
& respond quickly & easily; He doesn’t have to force me to do anything;
he knows and I trust him with all my heart and when he speaks I move
II.
You can’t ignore the
leading of the Holy Spirit and enter into God’s best
A. Hebrews 3:7-19-Being
insensitive to Spirit’s leading will keep you from God’s best
1.
8-The
were unyielding to the voice of God
a. They heard and rather
than yielding to it, they suppressed it, they pushed it down
2.
10-If
you always yielded to the Holy Spirit then you would never grieve Him-Eph 4:30
a. When you don’t yield to
His leading it grieves Him b/c you just got further away from God’s best and He
loves you and wants the best for you
3.
10-They
were led astray by their circumstances, the evil report, what it looked like
a. If you’re not yielding to
Spirit’s leading, you’re yielding some leading; You’re being led by something
4.
10-They
didn’t to perceive and recognize the ways of God
a. They thought Moses was
missing it; they didn’t recognize that what Moses was saying was the voice of
God (“This can’t be God b/c we’re going to die here”)
b. You need to know weather
or not it is God
1)
You
don’t want to push something down that is God b/c you believe it’s not
c. The reality is the more
you practice this kind of life, the better you’ll become at discerning God’s
voice versus the enemies voice
1)
There
were not sensitive to God’s voice or aware of it
5.
12-Pay
attention, be on guard so that you don’t do this
a. Be aware spiritually, be
aware of your Spirit, & of the HS, always
looking within
b. There is always a way
that seems right to man, but it isn’t right-Proverbs 14:12
6.
18-19-You
can’t enter into God’s best and ignore/be insensitive to the Spirit’s leading
B. The people who will be
sensitive to and yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit will experience God’s
best in their lives-Psalm 81:11-16
1.
11-The
would not hearken-Yield to the Voice
of God
2.
12-God
gave them up to their own hearts lust-hardness
3.
13-16-If
only the would have yielded to God’s voice they would have had the best
