Redeemed From The Curse
Jesus was sent to this Earth for one purpose; to destroy the works of the devil. He was sent to die the death of the cross so that mankind could live on this Earth free from the curse that came on the Earth when Adam sinned. Many believers do not know why Jesus came. Some of them believe that he came so that we could go to Heaven, and that is partially true. Some believe that he came so that we could be forgiven of our sins, and that is partially true. 1 John 3:8 says, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." Jesus was manifested to destroy every evil work that Satan has ever done on this Earth. If you were to ask believers, "Was Jesus successful in completing his task?" you would get a resounding "yes" and some people might even get offended that you would ask such a thing. However, if you asked those same people, "Can you live a life on this Earth free from sin, sickness, and poverty?" you would get a multitude of answers that would be full of doubt and unbelief. Many people would say, "Well, that would be just like Heaven if we were free from sin, sickness, and poverty," not knowing that the will of the Father is Heaven on the Earth. In Matthew 6:10 Jesus was teaching the disciples how to pray, and he told them to pray like this, "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven." In Deuteronomy Chapter 11:13 and 23 it says,"And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all of your soul...That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the Earth." Jesus destroyed the works of Satan, and in doing so he enabled us to live our lives free from the curse, experiencing days of Heaven on the Earth.
One of the main obstacles that have stopped people from walking in this freedom is that they have not distinguished the works of God from the works of Satan. They think sickness, disease, and poverty are works of God to keep them humble. Many people believe that it is God's will for them to be sick or poverty stricken. In John 10:10 Jesus said, "The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly." Sickness and poverty are works of the devil. If those things were the works of God, then God would have placed them in the Garden of Eden with Adam. The curse came on the Earth after Adam sinned, and it was the work of Satan. God is not the author of sickness, poverty, or death and until we settle that in our hearts and in our minds we will continue to live on this Earth in bondage to the curse that Jesus has already freed us from.
In the Garden of Eden when God created Adam, God invested into Adam the power to bless the whole Earth (Genesis 1:28). The word "bless" means empowered to prosper. So in essence, God imparted into Adam the power to cause the whole Earth to prosper. The moment that Adam and Eve sinned against God they died spiritually. That does not mean that their spirits ceased to exist. It means that they were separated from the life of God and connected to Satan. The power that God had invested into Adam to bless the whole Earth was twisted 180 degrees in the opposite direction by Satan, and he used it to curse the whole Earth. Before Adam and Eve sinned there was no curse and everything in the Garden of Eden was perfect. However, after Adam and Eve fell in the Garden, the curse came on the Earth and put mankind in bondage. At this point God was on the outside looking in. God could have said, "Oh forget it" and just left this Earth and mankind in the hands of Satan, but praise God He did not do that. Psalm 78:38, says that God is full of compassion. Compassion filled His heart and He set the plan of redemption into motion by sending His only begotten son into the world to redeem it.
Jesus was sent into this Earth to redeem mankind from the fall. Galatians 3:13 says, "Christ hathredeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree." The "curse of the law" is everything that came on the Earth when Adam sinned. That curse is recorded in the book of Deuteronomy 28:15-68 and it includes sin, sickness, disease, fear, and poverty. We have to understand that Jesus was manifested in the flesh to free us from this curse. In reality, Jesus came so that we could walk in the freedom that Adam possessed in the Garden of Eden before he sinned. It can easily be seen that Jesus did not take the curse out of the Earth because sin, sickness, disease and poverty are still all around us. Jesus did however, enable us (believers) to live on this Earth and not have the curse affect our lives. In fact, in John 17:15 Jesus said, "I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, that thou shouldest keep them from the evil." We can live on a curse-filled Earth and not have that curse touch any area of our lives. The Bible says in Galatians 3:13 that Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the law. The prefix "re" means to go back or to return to the way that things once were. Some examples are words like reunite, reunion, or return. All of these words have an emphasis on going back to the way things once were. In the Garden of Eden mankind was at one time deemed free, but when Adam and Eve sinned, they fell in bondage to the curse. Jesus came to redeem mankind or in other words to take mankind back to their place of freedom where they stood before the fall. If Jesus suffered all of that pain and all of that punishment so that we could be redeemed from the curse, then as believers we have no business with any part of that curse operating in our lives. As believers we should be living lives that honor the cross by living our lives free from that evil curse.
If the body of Christ cannot live on this Earth free from the curse, then Jesus did not complete his task and the redemption is not complete. However, the redemption is complete and Jesus did accomplish his task and wecan live on this Earth with no trace of the curse in our lives. Jesus fully accomplished what he set out to do, and he perfectly fulfilled the will of the Father. Hebrews 2:14-15 says, "For as much then as children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he mightdestroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." The word "destroy" here means to paralyze or make of none effect. Jesus destroyed Satan, paralyzed him, rendered him harmless and in effective, and neither he nor his evil curse should be effecting our lives in anyway. Notice this verse says, "Him that had the power of death" that means that he does not have the power of death anymore. In Colossians 2:15 it tells us how great Jesus' triumph over Satan was. It says, "And having spoiledprincipalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it." This word "spoiled" means to strip the enemy of all his weaponry and artillery leaving him without any weapons with which to respond. In other words, Jesus stripped Satan completely naked of everything that he was using against mankind including the power that he stole from Adam in the Garden of Eden. The power that Satan used to curse the whole Earth is no longer in his possession because Jesus took it from him. Then in Matthew 28:18 after Jesus was raised from dead he said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." If Jesus has all the power in Heaven and in Earth then that does not leave any power left for Satan to have. Satan does not have authority over us, we have authority over him. The first thing that Jesus did with that power when he got it back was he transferred into the hearts of the believers. Ephesians 1:19-20 in the Amplified Bible says, "And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places]. The power of God is now hands of the believers. We should be using that power to rule and reign as kings in this Earth lording over sin, sickness, poverty, death, and every other part of that evil curse.
God never intended for mankind to live on this Earth in bondage to the curse. The believers who stand up and fight the good fight of faith, not tolerating any part of the curse in their lives will walk in the freedom that Jesus obtained for us through his sacrifice. As believers it is time to stand up for what Jesus did on the cross at Calvary. We should be living our lives honoring what he did on the cross. Jesus paid the price for our freedom, destroyed the works of Satan, and redeemed us from the curse. We need to stop lying down every time an attack comes. We should be standing up for our rights as believers and not tolerating or accepting any part of the curse in our lives. It is our responsibility as believers, to walk by faith and receive the victory that Jesus obtained for us at Calvary, showing the whole world that Jesus did in fact destroy the works of Satan.
